My Dress-Up Darling (Volume 10) – Because I Don’t Intend to Sleep Tonight
The Coffin group cosplay is gaining momentum, however, when Wakana goes over to Marin’s to borrow the game, there’s a train accident and he has to stay the night. Marin then gets the wrong idea when he says he doesn’t intend to sleep.
My Dress-Up Darling (Volume 10) – Because I Don’t Intend to Sleep Tonight
What happened?
As soon as Shinju heard about the Coffin group cosplay, she got quite excited. So much so that Sajuna had to call Marin back and ask to meet with them. Everyone was amazed that Juju really existed and even more so that she agreed to come discuss the photoshoot. Shinju came with her and ended up being cast as the main character. That gave them the full cast. Now, they just needed to make preparations. Akira agreed to meet up with Gojo to work on the props, while everyone else headed out to get their costumes ready. There was one other thing that needed to happen. Wakana had never played the game so he headed over to Marin’s to borrow her copy.
They decided to play it together at Marin’s apartment, however, when Wakana realised how late it was, he hurried to head home. Unfortunately, there was an accident and all of the trains had been delayed. Marin suggested that he sleep over. He could use her father’s room since he was away. Wakana froze. How could he possibly do that? However, there was no other choice. They decided to run to the grocery store and get supplies for breakfast and some clothes for Wakana. While there, Gojo spotted the energy drinks and decided that if he stayed up all night he wouldn’t have slept at Marin’s apartment. Marin found him looking at the shelf full of energy drinks and got the wrong idea when Wakana told her he didn’t intend to sleep…
Marin was worried that it was moving too fast. They weren’t even dating, but she couldn’t miss an opportunity like this. Plus, Wakana was so determined (he was actually terrified of spending the night at Marin’s house without an adult present). Of course, Marin misread the situation and fell asleep on the couch not long after eating a late-night cup ramen. After waking up and realising her mistake, she was even more determined to tell him how she felt about him, but what if he rejected her? She didn’t think she would be able to handle that!
What did you think?
I was hoping that Marin would find the courage to tell Wakana that she loved him. I’m not sure I can take it if this goes on for too much longer. Seeing Marin sad and lacking confidence is not the vibe this series was built on. However, my guess is that something will happen soon that will make Wakana realise that he loves her, and given how he’s been making things happen for himself, he will step up and tell her just as she is about to finally tell him. I can see it being the perfect coming together of everything that this series has shown us so far.
Of course, there are some things that need to be resolved first. Why does Akira hate Marin? I’m going to make another prediction here. I think it’s because she sees her the way Wakana saw her at the beginning of the series. She thinks Marin represents the cool kids who look down on everyone else. Maybe there was someone in Akira’s past that she reminded her of. We know that Akira had a similar experience to Wakana with her feeling like she needed to hide her interests in anime and manga the same way he hid his love of Hina dolls. I’m hoping it’s a big misunderstanding and not something more serious.
And finally, at the time of writing this, there are no more volumes of My Dress-Up Darling! I’ve pre-ordered volume eleven so I’ll get that as soon as it becomes available, but this is indeed a dark day for the Cult of Marin. The lack of a confirmed release date for the second season of the anime does nothing to lighten the mood. Damn it, I love this series, but this is the worst possible place to leave me hanging!

I don’t read manga, so I have no idea, just guessing this continues on from where the anime ends? that really sucks that they’ve stopped printing for now, hope you get your copy soon!. Really enjoyed the anime, yeah, for such a popular show, they haven’t announced a 2nd season, is surprising. I really hope they don’t hold off for too long, any interest would be killed. Like ancient magus bride, enjoyed that, oh boy, took them yonks to get another series out. Was a little bit surprised it went under most radar (I think that) when it did.
They announced that they are going to make a second season, but there’s no dates yet, so who knows.
The anime covered the content from the first five volumes, so the second season could do the same which would be up to volume ten. Eleven comes out in April, so my main source of distress is that I went from reading one or two volumes a week to now having to wait months for the next one. Need my Marin fix…
