My Dress-Up Darling (Episode 7) – A Home Date with the Guy I Wuv Is the Best
What happened?
Marin is determined to do a group cosplay with Sajuna, but she’s not prepared to budge on the idea. However, Marin then offers to pay half of the studio cost, which would free up more funds for costumes. Gojou also asks to split the bill as he will be there too for wardrobe adjustments and because Marin can’t do her own makeup. Eventually, she agrees and discovers Gojou’s techniques for preparing a costume. He will now watch Flower Princess Blaze, all 126 episodes… After all, he did play Slippery Girls 1 and 2 before making the last one.
Unfortunately, it’s not available on any streaming services although Marin has the boxed set and is willing to lend him it. He’ll need to make preparations for Sajuna’s Black Lily and Marin’s Neon costumes.
After discussing his latest attempt at a Hina doll with his Grandpa, Gojou is surprised to learn that his technique has improved despite him not practising at all. Grandpa tells him the work he’s doing with Marin will have helped and that all art will make him a better artist. He should go out and experiment. Gojou then tells him that he needs to go to Marin’s apartment to pick up the boxed set as it’s quite large.

However, when Gojou arrives at Marin’s apartment, she invites him in and says they should just watch it there together to save them carrying them across town. Gojou doesn’t know what to do. He’s never been to a friend’s house before, let alone a girl’s home. Surprisingly, he settles down after seeing her bedroom.
They had been watching for a while when Marin realised that this might actually be a home date with Gojou and the more she thinks about it the happier she gets. Unfortunately, this makes her stomach grumble. She woke up late and hasn’t had any breakfast yet. Gojou offers to cook but she refuses. It’s her house, she will cook.
Despite appearances, breakfast was actually delicious and Marin’s reaction when Gojou told her that was priceless. Anyhow, they finished the series and Gojou put together some designs for the costumes. He showed them to Sajuna who told him that they should invest in a better camera and that her little sister takes her photos. Gojou asks that Sajuna’s little sister give him some pointers on how to take great pictures.

What did you think?
I love how casually Gojou and Marin talk about the Slippery Girls. They did it when they were walking out of the restaurant a couple of episodes ago and then again in front of Sajuna, which gave us a bizarre reference point and image. I also love the message that Grandpa and this show are telling us about creating art and getting better by being more rounded. I know that Gojou has his heart set on becoming a Hina doll artist, but I think he could end up pivoting to making costumes professionally.
Then, we had the home date and it was delightful. Marin’s expressions are fantastic. She looked so cute when Gojou told her he liked her cooking and also when she realised it might be a home date. She had completely fallen for Gojou and I don’t think he’s realised it at all. Of course, he probably still has no idea what he said to her on the train. I can’t wait for this photoshoot. It’s going to be amazing!
