Marin hasn’t gotten over what Gojou said to her on the train and it’s made her realise something about herself. However, that may have to wait as someone else enters their lives!
My Dress-Up Darling (Episode 6) – For Real?!
What happened?
After their first cosplay event, they wash the costume and accessories so that they are ready for the next time. As Gojou reads through the care instructions, Marin can’t help but think about what he said on the train. Sure, he may have been sleepy, but he definitely said it. Grandpa comes home, having recovered from his fall after finding the stockings in Gojou’s bag, and finds him holding a dress. Then, he sees Marin!
The confusion is cleared up fairly quickly and Grandpa’s attention turns to the dress that Gojou made. He’s impressed by his work. Meanwhile, Marin seems to be falling further and further in love with him. The thought of it makes her nervous and causes her stomach to rumble. Grandpa invites her to stay for dinner and when they discover that she lives alone and eats meals from the convenience store, they invite her to eat with them every day.
The next day, it rained, and just as Grandpa was about to go outside. He noticed a girl hiding from the rain at the front of their store and assumed she was one of Gojou’s friends and allowed her to use their bath. He told Gojou when he came home from school, just as he was leaving. Gojou knew that Marin had to work, so who could it be? Was it a scammer?
Gojou charged into the bathroom at the worst possible moment and walked in on the girl as she was drying herself, having just got out of the bath. She panicked and slipped, revealing everything to Gojou. His mind wandered to a time when he was talking about Hina girls with his grandpa and how they started out with no hair. Can’t imagine what might have prompted that flashback…
Anyhow, it turned out that the girl was a year older than Gojou and she was also the famous cosplayer, Juju. She had seen Marin’s costume and wanted him to make one for her, and she wasn’t going to take no for an answer. Of course, Marin was delighted to come home and meet her. She even asked if they could cosplay together.
What did you think?
I did wonder whether Marin would bring up what Gojou said to her, so I was glad that they resolved that pretty quickly. She didn’t mention it and seemed instead to focus on the feelings she was developing for him. I thought the interaction with Grandpa was great as he and Gojou are like a couple of nerds examining the dress while the pretty girl sitting behind them is overlooked. It was good that we got a lot of Marin’s thoughts on the matter too. Now, we just need to find out what Gojou thinks, consciously.
I thought it was pretty rich that Juju assumed that Marin was just some airheaded fangirl who knew nothing about what she was doing when she herself was a big bitch. Marin showed her though and I’m already looking forward to them cosplaying together, regardless of Juju’s swift rejection. Marin is ten times the girl Juju is. That’s clear for all to see. My only worry is that she ends up being some sort of love rival. I mean no one can rival Marin, so why try?
