Misora won her first fight and now she gets to watch the rest of the round with Iba-san so that she can get a better understanding of what she’s up against. This is going to be a tournament for the ages!

What happened?
Misora was happy to have Iba-san help her with the tournament. He may be a sleazy adult movie director but he knows his martial arts. They already know who Misora will face in the next round which will decide who moves on to the New Year’s Eve main event, but it would be careless to ignore the other fights. At some point, she will likely face one of these if she keeps progressing. The first fight puts an American pro-wrestler turned MMA fighter against a Brazilian street fighter. The size difference is staggering. Veronica Lin attacks with a speed and curiosity that belies her size. Elena Silva couldn’t do anything to stop her.
The next fight features a Brazilian Jujitsu prodigy against another American MMA fighter. Maria Louisa Rivieria is the daughter of a legendary MMA fighter who went undefeated in nine hundred fights. Their fight is remarkable because Justine Cruise couldn’t land a single blow on Maria and was then put in a hold that she instantly tapped out of. Veronica and Maria will compete to go onto the next stage. The fights continued with fighters getting knocked out or retiring. There was a broken arm, several cheap shots and one fighter advanced despite losing the actual fight. That was Kujiraoka Mika who inflicted a wound as she was being knocked out, knowing that it would take her opponent out of the competition.
One of the most interesting revelations was the Indian fighter who gave Misora an erotic massage in the last volume. Luna Karn was incredible, mixing what appeared to be yoga and kung fu. Her opponent couldn’t even get close to her. Then, she celebrated by bumping boobs with Misora… She’s a keeper! Not long after the second round began. This would decide the four fighters who would go on to compete in the New Year’s Eve show along with the four winners from the next preliminary. Misora was up first against Chompoo Shinlat of Thailand. Iba-san’s advice was to take some hits from her. Their size difference meant that Misora could handle it and it would give her a chance to experience what it was like. Misora stuck to the plan for a little while, proving to be like a stone statue to Chompoo who became more and more frustrated. Then, Misora blocked and countered, knocking her out and slipping out of her costume made of bandages. The crowd went wild!
The remaining three fights were just as exciting as Maria Louisa Riviera made quick work of Veronica Li, choking her out and leaving her a heaving wet mess on the mat. Kujiraoka Mika advanced after narrowly defeating Olga Zelenskaya. And then, Luna Karn sailed through her fight with Umezawa Mayu whose team threw in the towel to save her. Following the first preliminary round, Luna offered to give Misora another massage to help her recover. Of course, Akira wanted to be the one to do it, so they both did! What a way to finish this volume!
What did you think?
This was the most fun and sexy battle tournament I’ve seen in forever. It was also fairly brutal with broken bones and several of the girls having involuntary body responses to certain attacks. Let’s just say it got wet and not in a good way! Anyhow, I loved the fights and the variety of the fighters. It helped to have Iba-san there to explain to Misora (and us). I’m not sure why she thought making a Mawashi belt out of stretchy bandages was a good idea, but there were no complaints from the crowd when it exploded off her as she finished off her opponent with a massive flying kick. There were a lot of interesting characters and it’s a shame that several of them will not come back, although I’m sure some will make the occasion appearance.
I think Luna Karn is going to be staying around long after the tournament is over so that’s a good thing. The big question now is whether the next volume will dive straight into the next preliminary or whether we’ll get some time to see how the girls recover from this tournament and no doubt get into all sorts of shenanigans. As long as we don’t take another viciously dark turn… Who am I kidding? I love this series and will be happy no matter what happens… within reason, of course! I also absolutely love the chapter title pages. The artwork is spectacular. This series has been a huge surprise and I am delighted that I took the plunge.
