Booty Royale: Never Go Down Without a Fight! (Volume 12) – The Black Hole!
What happened?
Mao Mao has been doing some research into Judo and has come to the realisation that Alevtina must be incredibly strong to be considered the top judo martial artist given how many people do it. When compared to the number of lethwei fighters, Mao Mao is feeling fairly insignificant. Chae Yun-Hui does her best to get her head back in the fight. The numbers aren’t important. She’s still an incredible fighter and she’s going to make everyone proud when she gets out there and stands toe to toe with Alevtina. Once in the ring, Mao Mao’s concerns appear to have vanished as she tells Alevtina that she’s going to judo her. She’s surprised but welcomes the attack.
As soon as she’s close enough, Alevtina grabs Mao Moa’s wrist and throws her into the air. However, that was what Mao Mao had been planning on as she used the force to launch a kick to Alevtina’s head. It takes several more hits including the magic bullet before Alevtina finally lets go of Mao Mao’s wrist. Mao Mao dances between Alevtina’s strikes and then lands a headbutt on Alevtina’s jaw. She goes down for the first time in the tournament. However, Mao Mao was not about to sit back. She fires a kick at Alevtina’s face, but it’s blocked. Alevtina climbs to her feet and then offers to exchange strikes with Mao Mao.
Mao Mao thinks she’s prepared for Alevtina’s strikes, but her reach and power are incredible. Not to mention all of the time she’s put into Mua Thai training too. She sends Mao Mao flying across the ring. Alevtina is the ultimate package. However, Mao Mao was not about to give up. She never gives up. That’s when she finds her opening. Mao Mao fires a flurry of punches and kicks, but she can’t get through Alevtina’s defences. Then, she launches another magic bullet. Alevtina takes the contact and then returns it with interest, slamming Mao Mao to the mat. She drops on top of her and goes for a submission hold. Mao Mao headbutts her again and wriggles free. However, Alevtina fires a kick from a crouched position and sends Mao Mao flying.
The pain is intense. Mao Mao remembers her life growing up and how her parents were killed because of their race. She was sold into slavery where she was beaten and abused. When she gained the courage to fight back, she was shot and left for dead. That was when she was found by her master and trained to become the fighter she is today. This can’t be the end. Mao Mao jumps to her feet and fires an elbow at Alevtina. They continue to fight, exchanging blows in a bloody torrent of fists and feet. It’s a wonder either of them is still standing. And then, Alevtina lands a decisive blow. She grabbed Mao Mao’s arm and threw her like she was nothing. It was as if her body had been sucked into a black hole and then crushed beneath its force. Alevtina won!
What did you think?
Well, that was absolutely relentless. I had hoped they would squeeze the two remaining fights into this one volume, but there’s no denying that this was an epic read. The fight was insane and more than required this many pages to do it justice. When we first met Alevtina, it never crossed my mind that she would be the one to face Misora in the final, but it was well deserved. She may have had an easier run at the beginning, but I think they played down her win over Yin Xiaomin because of how quick it was. Xiaomin made two professional fights simply roll over and quit. Overcoming that was no mean feat. And then, the way that Mao Mao progressed to this stage was incredible too. I’m surprised they didn’t make anything of her broken hand as that must have been a limiting factor. It’s crazy to think that this is the same series that began with a gravure model fighting one hundred men to save her virginity!
After the fight, we learned that immigration was going to send Mao Mao back to Myanmar as she had lied on her visa application. Luckily, Utako was there and with her family connections, she was able to stall things. Then, Mika and Chae Yun-Hui suggested that they resolve it with violence. Rather than get caught on video fighting girls, without even considering the fact that they would probably lose, they decided to give her some time to sort things out. That meant she would have to go home though, but she would be back.
Finally, at the end of this volume, there was a two-chapter, one-shot called Murai-kun wants to fuck Mizuno-kun. It followed a guy who had missed the last train home after work and then ran into an old friend from school. Murai had been a bit of a loner at school, but that seemed to fascinate Mizuno even more. Of course, since school, a lot has changed. Murai was now a host and in the middle of transitioning to become a guy. Murai suggested that Mizuno stay at his place instead of sitting in a restaurant all night. This was a cute story and there were suggestions that there may be more to it. I’d be tempted to read more if it does continue. However, my main focus is on the final of the Valkyrie Opera which will start in the next volume!
