Kazuma has been invited to tell the stories of his exploits to Princess Iris, however, Darkness is concerned that any one of them could do something to offend her. And, to be fair, she’s probably not wrong!

What happened?
In order to ensure Kazuma agrees to dress appropriately, Darkness agrees to wear a maid’s costume until the Princess arrives. However, that doesn’t seem to stop Kazuma from dreaming about the possibilities of their meeting. Luckily, there is something more pressing to deal with. A new item has become available to sell at Wiz’s store thanks to Kazuma’s contract with Vanir. They have been able to produce lighters and they are about to change this world, which will ensure Kazuma a hefty sum of money. Since Megumin helped him craft the designs and Darkness put him in touch with a merchant who would produce the lights, they get one for free. Aqua, who did nothing, will have to earn hers, by drawing customers to the shop, which she does in a roundabout kind of way.
After getting them all dressed up, it’s time for them to Princess and Darkness is getting flustered. No one seems to want to stick to the plan. Kazuma gets in trouble for looking the Princess in the eye, while Aqua is determined to do some magic tricks. Then, when the Princess accuses Kazuma of being a liar because he won’t show them his adventurer’s card since he has Lich abilities and because he won’t tell them how he defeated Mitsurugi. He can’t tell her he stole his cursed sword and then sold it. Megumin was about to tell the Princess off, but she managed to restrain herself. Darkness, however, had heard enough.
She asked Princess Iris to apologise for calling him a liar but when she refused, Darkness slapped her, forcing one of her bodyguards to draw her sword and attack. Darkness blocked the blade with her bare arm and continued to explain how Kazuma is the best person to have with you on an adventure. Finally, he agrees to show them how he beat Mitsurugi by stealing the guard’s sword. Unfortunately, that didn’t go how he planned – he actually stole her panties. However, that seemed to please Iris who then kidnapped Kazuma and took him back to the palace so he could tell her more stories…
What did you think?
This episode was hilarious. I laughed and laughed and laughed. The relationships each of the characters has with one another are key to this show. Darkness and Kazuma seem to understand one another perfectly, but can’t help but antagonise each other. I love how Kazuma and Aqua have this messed up relationship and while they both understand the other world, both have to be careful not to reveal anything, such as Kazuma’s story about his past job protecting his home… as a shut-in. Megumin seems to be quiet, but she’s just waiting for her chance to blow anything up. She’s like a time bomb that could go off at any moment. So, putting them into a situation where all of their habits and personalities could get them killed is fantastic.
There were so many incredible moments such as Aqua and Megumin tying on Darkness’ old clothes with little to no success. These girls are built differently! I loved Darkness trying to keep it together while everyone did their usual thing, and then losing it. If you told me Darkness would be the one to slap the Princess, I would never have believed it, but defending Kazuma makes perfect sense, especially given their relationship. Of course, we all knew that Kazuma would steal Claire’s panties and not her sword, but that never seems to get old. The last episode was a good way to return to this series, but this one was just fantastic. It’s as if they never left. I’m already dreading the end of the season.
