KonoSuba: God’s blessing on this wonderful world! (Episode 11) – God’s Blessings On This Wonderful Choker!

Kazuma and his party bump into Yunyun, Megumin’s rival at Wiz’s shop. There’s a lot of noise and confusion and while everyone is occupied Kazuma tries on a wishing granting choker, however, you have to make the wish come true yourself!
What happened?
The choker is popular with women looking to lose a little weight as it slowly gets tighter and tighter, only stopping when you achieve your wish. That’s right. Kazuma has four days to fulfil his wish or it will choke him. The only problem is that he doesn’t know what he wished for. Luckily, everyone is keen to help him in any way they can… any way!
Kazuma pulls out all of his perverted dreams in an attempt to remove the choker. He turns Wiz into a cushion, using her chest and her lap as he sees fit. He makes Darkness do exercises and wash while he watches. Megumin and Yunyun play strip rock, paper, scissors. While Darkness runs to get him food and drink. After three days of debauchery, Kazuma has accepted his fate and apologises to the girls for everything he’s done, and I mean everything.
They accept his apology and gather around to hug him. Amazingly, this is what unlocks the choker. His wish was to be comforted. Of course, no one is too impressed with what he put them through and make him put the choker back on… Next thing we see is Kazuma sitting opposite Eris who tells him not to die over something so silly!

What did you think?
So, this was the first OVA that aired shortly after the first season. It took place some point before the events of episode ten and was basically a more outrageous version of the regular episodes. Like most OVAs, it had a pretty simple premise and a lot of fan-service. There were some pretty funny moments and even some nicer ones as the group came to terms with Kazuma’s untimely demise. Of course, once that didn’t happen there was a swift change of thought.
It wasn’t as good as the regular season, but it was a lot of fun and I don’t have any regrets from watching it. Now, if someone could let me know when Darkness’ exercise video is coming out, that would be great.

What have you learnt?
OVAs are a lot of fun and from a writing standpoint, they remind me of bonus chapters or fun side quests. They’re like short stories set in the original world with the original characters and are often full of fan-service. That can be fan-service in the form of seeing more of the characters you love, or as with anime, it’s usually a lot more bounce and jiggles. Either way, these are often a reward for those that stuck with the show and are eager for some more. It’s not a bad idea either, as you could put a short out far quicker than the next novel and it could be enough to keep your characters alive in their minds until the next one is ready.

What is Aqua wearing?
In episode eleven of Konosuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World!, I have no idea whether Aqua is wearing panties or not. If I’m completely honest, the answer may well have been in this OVA, it seems like a likely place for it to be answered. However, every time I looked at the screen, all I could see was Darkness. Now, it’s not a bad way to spend twenty-four minutes, but it doesn’t help my quest. Still, who doesn’t love Darkness? Not this guy!
