Rokka -Braves of the Six Flowers- (Episode 6) – A Trap and a Rout

Adlet finds himself in a sticky situation when his story incriminates himself. With the other Braves closing in, he has to act now or he’ll never be able to prove his innocence, but that might make it worse!

What happened?
When Adlet revealed that he was the person to open the temple, all eyes fell on him. Once the seal has been broken, there is no way to restore it. If anyone had been in the temple before him, the seal would have already been broken and the armour that attacked him would have already been activated against another. There was no way that anyone got in before him. Adlet tried his best to come up with possible theories about who could have done it, but everything was quickly shot down by Mora and Hans. Despite Nashentania’s defence of Adlet, Goldov was also convinced that Adlet was the seventh. Even Fremy had accepted it as the only possible outcome.
With no way to prove his innocence, Adlet took Fremy hostage and fled from the temple. Hans managed to hit him with a dagger as he ran, but they couldn’t keep up with him. When night fell, they gave up and returned to the safety of the temple. Adlet tried to remove Hans’ dagger, but he passed out before he could. When he woke, Fremy had tended to his wounds. She insists that she is ninety-nine percent sure he is the seventh, but the doubt is enough for her to help him. However, when he suggests that there is an eighth person involved, she refuses to help him, showing concern for his ability to smile despite the trouble he’s facing.

What did you think?
This episode was tense, however, it also threw up a few illogical moments. That said, I think they’re all on edge and someone is lying which can make everyone question everything. Also, if an obvious choice appears, those who are innocent will be glad to pursue that idea so that they are not the focus of the suspicions. They were very quick to condemn Adlet despite agreeing that Fremy wasn’t the seventh since she was alone with Adlet for a long period of time and didn’t kill her. Well, the same should apply to Adlet. He was alone with Fremy and Nashentania. Again, logic goes out of the window when people start to panic. You just need to look at the witch trials and how people would turn in neighbours during the war for possibly being a spy. Once we’re told that someone may be hiding among us, we’re quick to see what we want to see.
So, from an outside point of view, the obvious thing would have been for them to each take a turn at dispelling the barrier since they know that the one who cast it is the only one who can undo it. Even before attempting it, they would have very quickly realised that there is another who should be under suspicion. The reason is that the tablet was broken. I’m surprised that no one has noticed that since it’s an essential part of the spell. And who broke the tablet you ask? Well, I’m sure you remember, but if you don’t, it was Nashentania. Her performance so far has been excellent. She’s openly doubting that it’s Adlet, which would make the others sympathetic to her. Plus, she has a loyal servant in Goldov so anyone who came for her would meet his blade. She’s playing it incredibly well so far.
There were also some clues as to what really happened. This took place in the forest during the discussion between Adlet and Fremy. Could the weather have anything to do with this sinister plot? We’ll find out soon enough!
