Rimuru continues to assess the situation with the help of his inner council. They need to work out who and what they are dealing with. It can’t be a coincidence that they were attacked on three fronts at the same time!
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Episode 52) – Everyone Has a Part to Play
What happened?
So, the festival idea has been agreed on, but there’s still a lot to get through. Soeui encountered a dangerous monster in the forest and quickly took care of it. However, it would be too strong for most adventurers. Given the density of the monsters living in Tempest, there are a lot of magicules in the air and that is causing more monsters to appear. Luckily, Kaijin and Vesta have come up with a plan. After being attacked by Falmuth and its anti-magic barriers, they have come up with a plan to create their own. They will install these along the roads, making them safe for anyone to travel. It will also act as a magicule store which they can then use for other purposes. Rimuru is impressed.
That, however, raised another question. Veldora has been holding in his aura which is causing him considerable discomfort. Rimuru tells him to suck it up, but Diablo points out that since Veldora has such a large quantity of magicules, it’s probably incredibly difficult for him, unlike Rimuru who has a bottomless stomach. Rimuru agrees to look into a solution for Veldora. Back to the meeting, Rimuru gives Geld the plans for Milim’s new home which is quite impressive. However, it causes Geld to become concerned that he would make a mistake given how large and important it is. Rimuru reassures him and asks Kaijin to assist.
Finally, Diablo reports on Falmuth and how that’s going. He believes the new king is up to something and Rayhiem hasn’t reported back from his visit to the Holy Church. That causes Rimuru some concern since he offered to let things go after Hinata attacked him. That raises the question as to who is behind everything. Rimuru assigns Diablo and Shuna to look into the merchants that visited Falmuth and Clayman. Maybe there’s a connection.

Things continue to build at a slow and steady pace in this episode. I’ve seen even more complaints about the lack of action, but I watched this episode and was surprised when we got to the end. Even with the slow pace, the episode was over before I was ready, and to me, that’s a sign that I’ve been fully invested, action or not. And, to be fair to Reincarnated as a Slime, this isn’t a new development. There were several episodes in the last season that were focused on a meeting between rulers where they discussed everything that was going on. If you’ve made it to season three, you can’t claim to be surprised by the pace.
I’m enjoying the way this series builds and builds, setting up the world and moving the pieces around. Then, once everything is ready we get episodes like when Falmuth attacks or Rimuru destroys their army. Sure, it was easy, but it was a lot of fun and I’m going to continue to patiently wait for those moments because they make it all worthwhile. I did laugh at the end of the episode where it appeared that Hinata was about to begin her meeting. I can’t help but wonder if the next episode will lay things out from her point of view as they prepare for the next play by Yuuki Kagurazaki.
