That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Episode 54) – Those Approaching

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime 3 Title

Hinata is on her way to Tempest, followed by four strong allies. There are also two forces marching on Falmuth. With no idea what any of their intentions are, Rimuru must prepare for every situation. One wrong move could result in war!

What happened?

Luckily, Rimuru has someone in his camp who used to be a member of the Western Holy Church. Adalmann, the undead skeleton used to work for Clayman until Shuna won him over and he’s more than happy to tell Rimuru what he knows. As a cardinal, he had access to almost everything. There is a cloistered emperor whose identity is unknown, but otherwise, Adalmann knows everything. He singles out the Seven Luminaries as the biggest reason as to why the church has become corrupt. The main forces to worry about are the Crusaders and the Master Rooks, and of course, Hinata. In their ranks, they have Ten Great Saints who are of the Enlightened Class – the Demon Lord equivalent of a human.

Veldora offers to step in and take care of things, but Rimuru is keen to keep him out of the action and makes him their last line of defence. With Veldora somewhat placated, they agree to send some forces to help Youm who may be on the pointy end of a civil war. Rimuru is going to meet Hinata while Benimaru, Souei, and Shion plan on stopping the four Saints who are accompanying her. However, Rimuru has given one command. He wants it done without anyone dying. There is one caveat – if their lives are in danger, annihilate the enemy.

Meanwhile, a shady group of merchants, representing the Rosso family have been conspiring with a foreign power to sell weapons and weaken the force here. Once that’s done, the foreign power will swoop in and take everything, leaving them as the primary merchants in this new world order. Their goal is to remove Hinata and Rimuru.

I feel like I need to begin each of these posts with a point about the slow pace of this season and how soon, it will all be worth it. Well, that continues with this post. I’m certain that when it does happen it’s going to be epic, however, it is taking a little while to get there. In the past, I’ve reviewed this series in blocks of four episodes and I feel like I should have continued in that fashion. While a lot is discussed in each episode, developing the world and setting things up for the future, there really isn’t much to talk about.

I’ve already done a couple of posts where I basically created a wall of images of Shion or Hinata. Now, there was a new kijin girl, Gobwa who seemed cute, although she was barely in it. And then, Suphia and Albis who are always welcome. However, again they were only there for a brief moment. It’s hard. I love this show and will continue to watch it, but from a review standpoint, there’s not much to talk about beyond explaining the implications of what was discussed. The main point from this one was that Glenda of the Master Rooks who Hinata asked to investigate the merchants is clearly owned by them. Did we really need another meddlesome group to get involved? The action better be epic when we finally get some!
