The repercussions of Rimuru’s actions at Walpurgis are still being felt. Yuuki’s group are struggling to come to terms with the loss of Clayman and how that impacts their goals. Meanwhile, Luminous Valentine finds out that Roy was killed!
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Episode 50) – The Saint’s Intentions
What happened?
Yuuki was frustrated that they put so much faith in Clayman only for everything to be lost in an instant. Clayman’s death hit them hard, but the overall cost to their goals of world domination is far worse. They decide to lay low for a while and see how things play out, but not before Yuuki uses his influence to set something sinister up.
Hinata Sakaguchi, Shizu’s former student, met up with Louis Valentin, the head of the Holy Church who is also a vampire to discover that his brother Roy was killed by the intruded that she let escape. She’s disappointed, but mostly because of her failure to complete the task. Luminous Valentine is far more upset, but not just because she lost Roy. Rimuru became a Demon Lord and Veldora is back. Two powerful monsters are a problem for a church that preaches that monsters are evil! However, there is nothing they can do at this point. Maybe, the Angels will be drawn to Tempest. They can only hope!
King Edmaris has announced that he will abdicate the throne, leaving his brother as the new king. He will also pay Tempest the sum of ten thousand Stellar Gold Coins. The nobles are indignant, refusing to accept that he will simply roll over for these monsters. However, one noble received a letter from the Kingdom of Blumund who are supporting Tempest. Not only that, they need to consider how the Dwarven Kingdom will react. Then, the meeting is interrupted by two guards informing them that Rimuru is now a Demon Lord and that Clayman is dead. That settled it. Edward will become king… and he seems rather pleased by that!
What did you think?
There was a lot more sitting around and talking. This time it was from three separate groups. That said, it was fascinating and I was shocked when the episode ended as I was certain that it had not been close to twenty-four minutes. The revelation that Yuuki’s group are plotting world domination was interesting and also a little unbelievable given how soundly they were defeated. Might be better to simply give up than lay low for a while. I don’t see them defeating Rimuru or any of his inner circle. Also, Hinata is a funny one. She practices the belief that monsters are evil without exception, despite knowing that her country and the church are run by vampires. I think she’s an interesting character, but I would like to see this idea reconciled. Also, defeat Veldora… hahahaha! At least, Luminous set her straight.
I loved how the guards interrupted King Edmaris’ meeting at the perfect moment to set everyone straight about how dangerous Rimuru is. I do think that Edward is going to be a problem… well, not so much a problem, but a mild annoyance at best. Either way, he’s going to do something to upset Rimuru and then face the wrath of Diablo. I like that this series takes its time to set the stage. Not much has happened so far this season, but it will and it will be spectacular, as always. We’re yet to find out who the Angels are and what their arrival will mean. Of course, this season seems to be putting Hinata and her team up against Rimuru and his team, if the promo image is to be believed. That should be exciting!
I also want to know more about Hinata’s justification for serving Vampires. It seems to me that she thinks the happiness and prosperity of the people in Lubelius is worth protecting, even if it’s led by a trio of monsters. But if Hinata can make excuses for those monsters, then she should also be able to understand Tempest and their desire to survive.

I just hope there’s more to it than she is just a hypocrite. I’ve been waiting for her to become more involved ever since she fought Rimuru, so I want her to be more interesting than that.

I imagine Rimuru will get along with angels very nicely. He’s shown a knack for getting hostiles to bury the hatchet.

True, but he’s also been known to kill an entire army or destroy an unstoppable monster here and there.
