KonoSuba: God’s blessing on this wonderful world! (Episode 29) – Rest for This Up-And-Coming Adventurer!
Back in Axel, Kazuma receives his reward for defeating Sylvie and it’s a lot of money. So much so that they don’t need to do anything for a while, especially with the extra money coming from Vanir. However, Vanir has a warning for them!

What happened?
Kazuma’s reward was three hundred million Eris which makes him the star of the Axel Adventurers’ Guild. However, he’s going to let that go to his head… Well, he’s going to buy loads of booze and eat at fancy restaurants while still being a cheap smuck. After awkwardly thanking the chef at a fancy restaurant, they returned home to find Darkness tied up in the living room with Megumin standing over her dripping water from an ice cube into her mouth. Assuming the worst, Kazuma and Aqua step out quickly. They soon discover that Darkness is training for an endurance competition…
Anyhow, that’s the least of their concerns as Aqua appears to have been tricked out of her money by a guy who sold her a “dragon” egg. She’s keen to hatch it, despite it looking remarkably like a chicken’s egg. Luckily, they have something else to distract them as Kazuma needs to visit Wiz’s shop to collect his payment from Vanir, which is also a large bag of gold. When Vanir is not picking fights with Aqua or working Wiz to exhaustion, he offers to read Darkness’ fortune as he senses destruction around her. After some unnecessary probing questions, he tells her that something will happen to her father and no matter what she does, she will not be able to change that.
After Darkness steps out, Vanir then tells Kazuma that he may be able to change it if he’s willing. Also, he needs to come up with a new item for the shop. His money isn’t going to last forever. Later on, Darkness comes to Kazuma and asks him to help her defeat a hydra which has an enormous reward. However, Kazuma doesn’t need the money, so she’s going to have to offer something better than that. She offers him a kiss on the cheek which just isn’t going to cut it. Then, she kneels in front of him and begs him with a tear in her eye. How can he refuse? Aqua, however, is even less keen, but soon gets to work purifying a lake to draw out the Hydra, which is massive.
What did you think?
I love this series. Kazuma and Aqua being completely awful people to that chef was hilarious. The pauses when they were completely wrong were fantastic and had we not experienced something similar in previous episodes, I would have been checking to see if my video was still playing. Then, paying with exact money and telling them to keep the tip was just cruel. Money really brings out the worst in some people… especially if they’re already pretty terrible people, to begin with. Anyhow, it was hilarious. On top of that, I love it when Vanir and Aqua fight. They are savage, but then can instantly turn around and be normal to other people.
The questions to Darkness were amazing and it was even funnier when he revealed he was just making polite conversation. Anyhow, who’s telling Darkness she can’t wear cute clothes? I’m prepared to fight them on her behalf. Seriously though, I love how much attention Darkness is getting this season. She’s always been my favourite so it’s great to see more of her. Clearly, the thing coming her way involves Alderp since we saw him sitting in a long room staring at a painting of the lovely Lalatina Ford Dustiness.
There were some similarities between the Hydra mission and the gators where Aqua purified the lake from inside a cage. Obviously, things seem far worse here. What will they do? How will Kazuma die? And what is Alderp planning?
