Mushoku Tensei II: Jobless Reincarnation (Episode 13) – My Dream Home
Since Sylphie helped Rudeus with his… ahem… problem, he hopes to make it up to her by marrying her, however, he hasn’t got the faintest idea what that involves. Zanoba and Cliff tell him needs to buy a house, so that’s where he starts!
Mushoku Tensei II: Jobless Reincarnation (Episode 13) – My Dream Home
What happened?
While searching for a house, Rudeus finds the perfect property and it’s cheap. Why? Well, apparently it’s cursed, but that’s not enough to deter Rudeus despite the Adventurer’s Guild and the Mage’s Association giving up on it. He knows a good deal when he sees one. Now, he just needs to find out what has been killing everyone who stays the night. Of course, he’s not going to do it alone. It was Zanoba and Cliff’s idea to buy a house so he drags them along. They arrive to find the house quite rundown. Zanoba has to break open the doors just so they can get inside. Once inside, they begin to search the rooms, looking for any clues as to what might be the source of the curse.
They found nothing, so that means they will need to spend the night there. Cliff stayed awake to keep watch and heard something strange. He woke Rudeus and Zanoba, who then helped him search the house. However, they again found nothing. Maybe if they returned to the room and waited, it would come to them. On their way back, Rudeus spots something in the ceiling and is then attacked. Luckily, Zanoba stepped between them and held it back. Rudeus told him to move so he could destroy it, but Zanoba refused. Eventually, it stopped moving. It was a moving doll, which excited Zanoba and Rudeus to no end. It also means that Rudeus can safely buy the house on the cheap. Now, to show Sylphie.
What did you think?
This was a fun and goofy way to reintroduce us to the series. We got to quickly see the main group of characters while solving a mystery with Rudeus, Cliff, and Zanoba. I did feel that it was a little over the top to suggest that the Adventurer’s Guild and the Mages Association tried repeatedly and failed to work out what was going on in the haunted house but Rudeus and his buddies not only worked it out, but defeated it in one night. I get that he’s strong and each of them is gifted in some way otherwise they wouldn’t be where they were, but it was still an odd thing to bring up. They could have done it without even mentioning it.
Regardless, it was fun. I particularly like the idea of the automated dolls and what that possibly brings to the story. If Zanoba can work out how they work that could have a huge impact on this world. I will say one more thing, this episode felt almost like a nod to KonoSuba where they too got a mansion on the cheap because it was haunted and there was also someone in that world who was making automated dolls. He was also reincarnated from Earth so I’m wondering if that turns out to be the case here too. We know that there are at least two people from Earth, so there could be more. Either way, it’s great to be back. I’m looking forward to seeing where this part takes us.

I had a laugh when he announced to the class that his ailment was cured. I’m pretty sure everyone knew what he was talking about. I agree with you. It as a bit outlandish to think his group could solve what others could not. But, also like you, I agree that the episode was quite fun!
Yeah, the reaction from the two beast girls was pretty funny. And then, Rudeus claiming he was a gentlemen. I almost fell out of my seat.
Hopefully now, we can get to something a little more adventurous. As much as I’ve enjoyed the second season, it’s not been close to the first season. I miss Eris and Ghislaine, too!
