After a year of travelling the wastelands, Dead End has arrived at the sea. If they can just buy passage on a ship, they will be home in no time. However, there’s an extra charge for a Superd and it’s not cheap!
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation (Episode 12) – The Woman with the Demon Eyes
It’s not just expensive, it’s almost impossible for anyone to save up that much money. They find somewhere to eat to consider their options. Eris is concerned that Rudeus will leave Ruijerd behind, but that’s quickly dismissed. It’s not going to be easy, but they will find a way… somehow, they have to. Meanwhile, Roxy arrived at the same port with her companions and has begun to search the city.
After a day with little going their way, Rudeus lies down next to Eris and goes to sleep. As soon as his eyes close, Rudeus finds himself back in the astral plane with the Human-God, Hitogami. He’s not entirely pleased to see him after the way the last piece of advice he gave him caused a lot of problems. Hitogami was regretful that it didn’t work out, but he never expected Rudeus to act the way he did. It’s certainly been entertaining. Anyhow, he has some more advice for Rudeus.
Rudeus arranges for them to split up and look for a solution to their money problems, but it’s really so he can follow Hitogami’s advice. With a basket full of food, he wonders the back allies. That’s when he comes across a girl who is starving to death. Could this be what he’s supposed to do? He gives her the food and is then introduced to Kishirika Kishirisu, the self-proclaimed Great Emperor of the Demon World. To thank Rudeus, she offers him a wish.
Rudeus makes some big requests, but Kishirika cannot fulfil those, so she gives him a demon eye. It hurts, but once she’s finished, Rudeus obtained the gift of foresight. After a week, he learns how to use this new power to make himself stronger. Ruijerd also confirms that Kishirika Kishirisu is the Great Emperor of the Demon World and he had no idea she had reincarnated!
What did you think?
It was awesome to be back for the second cour and it made rewatching the first season that much more rewarding. This episode started a year after the events of the previous episode, although we did see some of their journeys in a montage during the ending song. My main question is how the shipowner knew that Ruijerd was a Superd and I can only assume that Rudeus has been telling everyone in his attempt to change the common perception. Unfortunately, that backfired royally.
I remembered seeing Kishirika Kishirisu’s design in the first season as she had a brief moment on the screen and I didn’t really care for it then. I still don’t care for it and the over-the-top animation that accompanied her really didn’t work for me either. It wasn’t horrible, but I think I would have preferred if it had fit within the existing style and tone. Anyhow, Rudeus has acquired a new power, now he just needs to put it to good use.
What have you learnt?
I was surprised that it took Ruijerd to explain to Rudeus that selling his staff would cause an issue with Eris. That seemed completely obvious to me. Why he hasn’t taken his newfound ability and used it to gamble is also a mystery. I imagine Ruijerd wouldn’t like that, but now that he’s agreed to ignore all evil until they cross the sea, it’s a possibility.
This new guy, Gallus Cleaner is either going to be a lot of trouble or the smuggler that they are looking for. Who am I kidding? He could just as easily be both. Regardless, he’s no doubt going to shake things up a little and I’m curious to see how that goes. I also want Roxy to find Rudeus, however, I think that will take a couple of episodes at least.
