Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation (Episode 6) – A Day Off in Roa
Rudeus begins teaching Eris, although she’s only interested in learning about magic. Ghislaine, however, is quite keen to learn as she’s experienced what it’s like being alone and not able to read and do math.
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation (Episode 6) – A Day Off in Roa
What happened?
Rudeus starts his job with a quick discussion with Philip about what happened. He’s to remain quiet and allow others to believe that Ghislaine saved them. It’s a political move within the Greyrat family and it keeps Rudeus out of view. Soon after he meets Philip’s father who is loud and violent… huh! That’ll be where Eris gets it from.
During their classes, Eris is only interested in magic and when pushed to do anything else, she hits Rudeus and runs off. Ghislaine, however, is keen to learn everything she can as she’s experienced first-hand how life can be without that knowledge. Luckily, Rudeus is able to use Ghislaine’s stories as an adventurer to fuel Eris’ desire to learn.
After several days of non-stop studying, Rudeus manages to introduce a day off to their scheduled and it appears to be paying off. They take a trip into town and visit the market where Rudeus makes notes of the prices of things and even finds a rare aphrodisiac. It would be a great gift for Paul, but they get sidetracked and forget about it. Then, Eris buys it for Rudeus, but has no idea what it is!
What did you think?
It was another slower episode, but this time we had Ghislaine to keep us company. Eris is still more than a little high-strung, but it would appear that she’s unable to act any other way, especially with the influence of her grandfather. That said, Eris asking Rudeus to teach her was pretty funny with her beast-person pose.
There was a moment where Rudeus definitely went too far. I get that he’s a lonely pervert who hasn’t had much interaction with anyone in a long time, but trying to remove Eris’ panties as she slept was a step too far. Admittedly, he did receive swift retribution and can’t have any complaints about it this time. Hopefully, it’s something he can learn from as he’s fairly level-headed most of the time.
What have you learnt?
We got to see Perugius’ floating fortress from when he defeated the demon-god Laplace and while it was a brief glimpse, it added a huge amount of weight to this story. I liked that we had heard a little of the story when Zenith and Paul would read to Rudeus. Things like this add another level to the story and often leave us desperate to find out more. I now need to find out everything I can about this, especially as it’s going to become relevant at some point. It has to!
Amazingly, they’ve found another interesting way to drop information into the story. Previously, it was Rudeus finding out about things and challenging the ideas. Now, we can see Rudeus teaching Eris and even learning from her too. I like that there’s some balance and everyone seems to be contributing. Even Ghislaine is able to bring more to the table than just her insane sword skills.
