Rudeus’ research into the teleportation event has led him to the practice of summoning. Luckily, there is an expert in the university so Rudeus goes to see Silent Sevenstars. Will she be able to help him?

What did you watch?
The last episode was a marked improvement on the two that came before it. Hopefully, we can now get back to the task at hand and judging by the title of this one it seems like Rudeus is going to get another blast from the past and it’s not going to bring up any happy memories. Despite those two episodes, I still love this series and can’t wait to see what happens next, I just wish it had handled things a little better. Anyhow, let’s find out more about the White Mask!
What happened?
Princess Ariel commented that she’s noticed Fitz watching Rudeus every time they see him. It’s not a problem, but then Fitz reveals that she hasn’t told him who she really is which surprises Ariel and Luke. How could she not have told him? Ariel leaves the decision up to Fitz, but it comes down to the fact that she thinks he has forgotten about her. It’s an odd thing to think considering he’s constantly researching the event that scattered his friends and family across the planet.
Anyhow, Rudeus has made a connection between teleportation magic and summoning, although summoning only ever involves objects and not people. He goes to Fitz to see if he has any advice. Luckily, there’s an expert at the university. A student called Silent Sevenstars. He’s aware of her since she has introduced a number of things that he recognises from his previous life. Maybe, she’s like him.
However, when he goes to visit her, he makes a startling connection. She was the won in the white mask who was with Orsted when he attacked them. She was the one who asked him to revive Rudeus because she believed he might be like her since Orsted didn’t know him. Rudeus was stunned and terrified. He tried to run, but his body gave up. He woke sometime later with his head in Fitz’s lap back in Silent’s room!
What did you think?
Finally! Finally, we’re getting somewhere. I loved the moment that Rudeus first saw the White Mask and his memories of the encounter with Orsted came flooding back. It must have been a wicked hit of adrenaline as his body pretty much relived the moment Orsted killed him. I’m sure his memories are probably a little fuzzy around the details but this would have brought it all back. There was so much to love about this episode and not just because it finally started to advance the plot again and adventures in slavery and kidnapping… I’d really like to forget those episodes ever happened if I’m honest.
What was your favourite moment?
I have to mention the moment that Ariel and Luke discovered that Fitz hadn’t told Rudeus who she was. I’ve been wondering for a while now as to why she hasn’t told him and now we know that it’s not because Ariel didn’t want her to. It still doesn’t make sense since Rudeus has shown up to investigate what happened. She hasn’t even asked him who he lost because I’m fairly sure he would mention her, especially since he thinks Fitz is a guy and he wouldn’t feel awkward telling another girl about this girl from back home that he still thinks about. Just tell him already. I was sure she was going to let it all out after the encounter with Silent.
Who was the most impactful character?
Of course, it has to be Silent. She revealed more about the things that have gone on in one episode than we’ve discovered in ages. The idea that she might be from the same accident that brought Rudeus here is very interesting and I wonder if the two names she’s searching for are the other people that were there too. I’m very curious as to who might have summoned her and why. The obvious guess is the human god because I still don’t trust that guy and his mystical twerking…
Was there any conflict?
Now, we have some real conflict with Silent wanting to go home and Rudeus definitely wanting to stay. I wonder if it’ll end up being an either we both go or neither go situation which would just raise the stakes considerably. I’m curious about her assertion that if you try to change much the world would delete you. Surely, the teleportation event is a pretty massive change to things. Unless, are they suggesting that it’s happened before? I feel like we need to have a sit down with Orsted and get some real answers to what’s going on. Everyone is being too vague whether deliberate or not, whereas I get the feeling Orsted won’t care about things like that.
What have you learnt?
It seems to me that this world is infinitely more complex than it first seemed and it was already a puzzling masterpiece of world-building. I can’t wait to see the full extent of things and maybe, we’ll even get to the real story. I think that we’re still in the building phase. We’ve been on adventures and completed quests, but they’ve all been small fry. There’s something much larger waiting for us and it brings me back to Orsted once more. I believe he has a lot of answers for us and that will shape the direction of the main story – why was Rudeus brought here? It certainly doesn’t seem like an accident.
