Mushoku Tensei II: Jobless Reincarnation (Episode 18) – Turning Point 3
What happened?
Things have been getting better with Norn too who has shown an interest in helping him write his book about the Superd in his attempt to change the world’s perception of them. In fact, they’ve become quite a bit closer since he was there for her when she needed to work out what she was doing. Things have been going well with Aisha too, although she would like to be paid, something Rudeus had never considered. He then takes her shopping and is a little scared of her haggling skills. She buys some curtains for her room but on the way home explained that her mother said they shouldn’t buy stuff for themselves. Rudeus tells her it’s fine, which makes her that much happier.
Rudeus then drifted around the school, checking in on everyone. Nanahoshi has devised a plan to experiment with the summoning magic and needs Rudeus’ magic to test things out. To thank him, she gives him a scroll with a magic circle that will summon a light spirit. Could be handy in a dark place! He checks on Zanoba and Juliette who are making progress with their studies. Then, he meets with Cliff who has devised a way to reduce the impact of Elinalise’s curse, although it doesn’t look very comfortable! There’s still some work to do there.
Things were settling down. And then, Sylphie told Rudeus that she was pregnant. Never in his wildest dreams did he ever imagine that something like this could happen to him. He was delighted, however, his joy was cut short by a letter from Geese who told him that the quest to save his mother was not going well and that he needed to send help. What was Rudeus going to do? Sylphie was pregnant. It would take at least a year to get there, probably much longer by the time they got back. He wanted to save his mother, but could he abandon his family? Fortunately, Hitogami came to him in his dreams and told him to stay where he was or he would regret it. He also told him to mate with Linia or Pursena. What sage advice! However, Norn convinced him to go save their family.
What did you think?
So, who could have seen that coming? I mean Sylphie is pregnant, right? It’s almost like they didn’t put a spoiler in the OP… That annoyance aside, I am delighted for Rudeus who clearly never could have imagined something like this happening in his previous life. I hope this isn’t some underhanded way of getting all the NEETs to believe that they could get the life they want if they’re reincarnated to another world… Please don’t do anything drastic, it’s highly unlikely that it will work out that way. Anyhow, life continued as normal for the most part and then Sylphie revealed her happy news. It was sad that soon after Rudues had been imagining his whole family together again he learned that things were not going well on the path to saving his mother.
So, the big turning point this time was that Rudeus did not take Hitogami’s advice, which is a fairly bold move given how well his advice had served him up to this point. I was a little disappointed that he didn’t just make the decision on his own and was ultimately pushed to make it by Norn who was prepared to go help on her own. There was no way he could let her do that. The thing that is still eating away at me is the amount of time since the Teleportation Disaster. It must be six or seven years since then and his mother has been missing the entire time. Also, given Rudeus’ power and knowledge of our world, he could have come up with a faster way to travel. If you can summon things from another world, surely teleportation magic must exist in this world. Maybe it’s highly regulated or outright banned.
Either way, things need to move a little quicker now. As much as I’m looking forward to the adventure beginning again, we’ve spent a lot of time in the school. Hopefully, we’ll make up for that time with some thrilling action. It’s been too long since anything exciting happened.

I feel absolutely terrible that he is going to leave Slyphie behind. I can’t help think something terrible is going to happen to her during childbirth. That would definitely fit the bill of regret-inducing actions. That being said, I am fully ready for Rudeus to get back on the road. I need this show to get moving.
Yeah, that would be horrible. However, my feeling is that he will learn something about Hitogami that he doesn’t want him to know. I’ve never trusted that shifty, naked, twerking guy!
Yeah, Hitogami is pretty sus. There is definitely an agenda there.
I find anyone who deliberately doesn’t reveal all the information to be less than trustworthy. What will he regret, Hitogami? Just say it!
The thing is he can’t know what’s going to happen to Rudeus because this is the first time he’s been in this world (since we know that Orsted didn’t recognise him and he’s lived the same timeline over and over again.) so he can only know what he will encounter. Just like how Sylphie hasn’t had his child in any other timeline because he wasn’t there, so I doubt that’s any part of the regret.
