Author Journey (April 10, 2023)

Well, I completely overestimated how much time I would have and foolishly assumed that because I had a scheduled real-life family event that it would be the only one…
Author Journey (April 10, 2023)
I started the week knowing that I only had three days worth of productive time available to me. Even with that limited time, I completely overstated my goals. So, when a number of unplanned real-life family events occurred my time simply vanished. Luckily, there was nothing to worry about with these real-life family events other than how much time they took from me.
The Weekly Recap!
I picked a show to finish that I only had seven episodes left to watch. Since it was a short week, I figured this would work out fine. It would have too had the show not actually finished airing due to a delay in the middle of the season. So, instead of bingeing the remaining episodes, I’m now stuck at episode ten with just two to go. Instead of seven, I only watched five.
I’m not sure what I was thinking increasing my number of manga volumes from two to four on a short week. Basically, I only managed to read one. It was a great book and I’m looking forward to this week as I have another bunch of books to pick up from my library.
So, I watched five episodes of anime and read one volume of manga. That should have given me six scheduled posts, however, I ran out of time and only managed to write up posts for four of them. I did catch up on the season review from the previous week and then there’s this one. That gave me a total of six. Well short of my goal!
I got through some more reading for the outline of book six but with the way life kept throwing obstacles at me I didn’t get anything done. It really wasn’t the most productive week ever.
Guess what, I didn’t do any drawing either. At least, I’ve learnt a little about goal setting and not expecting life to go entirely as planned.

| Tasks | Goal | Completed |
|---|---|---|
| Anime Watched | 7 Episodes | 5 Episodes |
| Manga Read | 4 Books | 1 Books |
| Posts Scheduled | 13 Post | 6 Posts |
| Chapters Written | 1 Book Outline | 0 Book Outlines |

Aspirations for the Week!
This week starts with one day down already thanks to Easter so it’s another short week, although not as a short as last week. I think I’m going to take an extra cautious approach to this one, focusing on cleaning up everything from last week that I couldn’t get to.
Watching Anime
Annoyingly, I’m not going to finish that series this week as there will still be one episode yet to air and I’d rather do them together. There is two OVAs from another series I’ve reviewed that I think I should catch up on. I might use this week to clean up some OVA episodes. Could be an interesting change of pace. Going to aim for just three episodes, knowing that I’ll probably do more.
Goal: 3 Episodes
Reading Manga
I have a number of books from the library although only a couple of them have people waiting for them. There’s also that six book series that I mentioned last week. That’s available for me to pick up and I am really excited to just hammer through it. That said, I’m going to stick with four books and hope to do more here too.
Goal: 4 Books
Posts Scheduled
I’ve got two posts to catch up on from last week and planning seven new posts for this week plus the next Author Journey. So, I’m going for ten.
Goal: 10 Post
Chapters Written
I’m definitely going to write up the outline for book six this week and hopefully start work on seven. It’s going to be much slower once I get halfway through seven as I’ll have no more drafts to work from.
Goal: 1 Book Outline
Artwork Completed
Same as last week, I want to start pulling together the cover for RIP Tide. Once I have a completed image, I’m going edit the story and hopefully get it out into the world.
Goal: 1 Cover Sketch

Final Thoughts
Last week was plagued by scheduled and unscheduled real-life family events. I know that this is not the norm so I’m not getting too beat-up about missing all my goals for the week. It was one thing after another and most of it was completely out of my control. Hopefully, this week will be calmer.
I have been playing the Japanese version of Princess Connect: ReDive and am enjoying the challenge of trying to decode Japanese. I’ve got a long way to go, but it’s a fun exercise. When things calm down, I’m thinking of doing a series of posts where I go through my process. It’ll help me solidify what I’m learning and may help others, which is pretty much what all my posts aspire to.
I have no idea how this week will go but I’m looking forward to things settling down, whenever that happens. Anyhow, thanks for reading.

Do you prioritize your goals? Set one to get done before the others? That helps me when Real Life Family/Work Events present themselves. Health issues, vehicles getting hit, major home repairs — man, it adds up, and it adds up fast. It’s not only the money, which stings. It its the _time_!
The older I get, the more I realize how little we ever had!
I don’t tend to prioritize. Instead, I have an idea which task is possible at what time of the day so I work that way. It’s fairly fluid though so I can change things as necessary. This week, all my time just vanished and I was already stealing time from wherever I could.
Time is absolutely the most precious commodity we have. I think that’s what stings the most and also what drives me to try to utilize every moment I have. Hopefully, the universe will play along this week.
