Lycoris Recoil (Episode 13) – Recoil of Lycoris
Chisato finds herself standing face-to-face with Majima. He’s desperate for a rematch and has set a bomb to go off. That should be enough incentive for Chisato, however, she’s running out of time herself!
Lycoris Recoil (Episode 13) – Recoil of Lycoris
What happened?
Majima separated Chisato from the others so that he could fight her alone. She intrigued him and was the only person that truly scared him. The fight erupted in seconds and was fast and explosive. Majima even tossed a grenade at Chisato while she was running up a glass bowl that hung beneath the tower. In the elevator, Fuki was desperately trying to stop Sakura from bleeding out. However, Takina was determined to go back for Chisato. So much so that no one was going to talk her out of it.
Meanwhile, Mika tracked down Yoshimatsu and his bodyguard. He looked pissed and was itching for a fight. When Yoshimatsu’s bodyguard charged him, he asked if this was the one that hurt Chisato. He knew, but he needed to say it before slamming her to one side with his crutch which he didn’t need and then incapacitated her. He walked to towards Yoshimatsu telling him off for forcing his will on Chisato. He drew his gun and shot, tears streaming from his eyes.
Takina arrived at the fight as Majima threw Chisato into the glass bowl once more. This time, she took him with her. The glass was already weakened with cracks spreading out in every direction. Chisato shot him until the glass broke and they both fell through. Takina raced into the bowl and managed to catch Chisato with a restraining tie. She managed to hold on as the bomb went off. Majima had been bluffing. It was just fireworks.
What did you think?
All right. Now, this was the ending I was hoping for. Obviously, we didn’t get any sort of resolution with the Lycoris program other than it seems to be continuing as normal, but that didn’t matter. The fight between Chisato and Majima was excellent and I loved the moment when they stopped to take a break because Chisato’s heart was playing up. Their dialogue was good too with Majima reinforcing that he didn’t believe he was the bad guy. He was just trying to expose the government murder organisation for what it was.
The scene with Mika was insane. I love that he had been pretending to be injured for just a moment like this. Not to mention that Kurumi was the only person that noticed and was more than happy to keep his secret as he was the scariest of them all. I was pleased to see Yoshimatsu get his comeuppance and it made sense that it was Mika that did it. He is like a father to Chisato. The only question is why he let it go this far. Still, all’s well that ends well.
Then, there was the ending. Again, I loved that Chisato woke up in a hospital having received her replacement heart and went on the run. Of course, she did. She had no idea who did it to her or why. I’m surprised she never tried to contact the others though, but it was nice that Kurumi found her and Takina brought her back. Finally, we have the end scene where they are now in Hawaii and it looks like they are about to get a new job. This feels like the beginning of a private detective drama, which would be amazing for the second season. I just hope they don’t ignore the fact that the Lycoris program is a dangerous thing for a government to have.
