What happened?

Kurumi and Mizuki go their separate ways at the airport, but since there is the incident going on the Enkuboku, no planes are taking off. With nothing else to do, Kurumi does a little investigating and discovers that Yoshimatsu has another artificial heart. They need to let Chisato know. She runs off her plane and finds Mizuki. They contact Takina to let her know and find out about Chisato’s disappearance.

Takina returns to the Lycoris to storm the Enkuboku, but she has second thoughts as they climb the tower. Then, Kurumi updates her on what she’s found from hacking Chisato’s phone. That’s it. Takina turns around and races to the old Tokyo Tower. If she has to choose between being in the DA or saving Chisato, it’s not even a choice.

Meanwhile, Chisato has fought her way up the old tower and found Yoshimatsu tied up. Majima appears, having sealed off the tower with metal shutters. He shoots at Chisato who dodges, but the bullet hits Yoshimatsu. Majima has the advantage in the dark with his hearing. Chisato is helpless without her sight. He shows her what is going on at the other tower and asks her to join him to take down the Alan Institute. She refuses and just when he thinks he’s won, Takina bursts through the shutters.

What did you think?

Wow! There were a lot of things to talk about in this one. I love the level of hacking Kurumi is able to do, although extracting vibrations from video to create sound is probably a little too farfetched. It was awesome, but I doubt it, especially with the video quality of security cameras. Anyhow, that just gave us hope that there is another heart for Chisato, although why was Yoshimatsu collecting another one only a year ago?

Of course, that’s not the only question surrounding Yoshimatsu. How did he escape from the ropes after being shot by Majima, and why didn’t Majima seem that bothered about it? If he can hear that well, he would have noticed. There’s still much more to this than meets the eye. The other thing I thought was excellent was the way Majima exposed the Lycoris and how his initial part of the plan to flood the country with guns played into that.

I mentioned it after the first episode and now we’re seeing that the Lycoris are not the good guys. Sure, they may believe what they are doing is good, but as Majima pointed out they operate outside the law. They kill anyone they believe to be a threat. There are some obvious similarities between Lycoris and the Stasi and the KGB. It’s going to be interesting to see how this one ends.
