Author Journey (September 5, 2022)

I’m starting to get back into the swing of writing once more. When I sit down to write there’s no staring at that blinking cursor, the words just start to flow. Now, I just need to find more time to sit and write!

Hot Topic
I’m still listening to Nights of the Living Dead and there have been some good zombie short stories but the quality overall has been on the decline since the middle of the book. Some read more like screenplays and that doesn’t exactly translate into a good story. Orbital Decay is still my favourite from the anthology so far.
One thing that continues to annoy me is just how insanely dumb some of these characters are. If you don’t want them to figure things out that’s fine, don’t give them so many clues. It’s better to keep them in the dark than make them look like idiots. Just like the readers, they don’t need all the answers.
What have I been watching/reading?
The day job got pretty busy again as yet another reporting period rolled in. It’s almost at the point where the reporting periods are bumping into one another, which leaves me with almost no development time. Of course, it needs to be done and that then eats into my time. It shouldn’t, but it does. Anyhow, I finished watching another series this week and really enjoyed it. The posts scheduled for quarter one of 2023, which is well underway to be entirely complete.
I only read one manga volume but it was fantastic and as such, I’ve scheduled this series as well. Volume four is supposed to come out later this year so I’ll review the first four back to back and then add the latest volume as and when they drop. I definitely want to get a little more variety into my schedule, especially moving away from having all the seasons ending at the same time.
Anyhow, here’s a quick look at what I posted last week.
And the next champion for humanity in Record of Ragnarok is Adam… and he’s going to fight Zeus, but not in this episode. That wouldn’t leave any time for the bizarre musical intro for Zeus…
Olivier Mira Armstrong has arrived in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood!
The latest trip to the Nether comes to an end in Fire Force season two and it was quite underwhelming. It certainly didn’t live up to the fights from last season.
After my favourite episode of Masters of the Universe: Revelation so far it would appear that it’s time to look at my least favourite episode so far. I’m struggling to work this show out. What are they trying to do?
There are still lots of ecchi anime reviews appearing in secret on my website…

Work in Progress
I returned to work on RIP Tide on Monday and then again on Tuesday. Could I be about to hit a nice run? Well, no. Not exactly, but I did get back to it on Saturday and Sunday. I wrote four chapters which came in at just over four thousand words. The pace is pretty much where I want to be at the moment. I have found in the past that I jump into the story too soon so I’m determined to slow things down a little. Not too much mind you, this is a zombie novella after all!
So, it was an improvement over the last couple of weeks which was great. It probably doesn’t make sense to give myself a hard time for missing three days, but then I could be three chapters further. It’ll come, I’m sure of it. At least, I feel like I can just start writing as soon as I sit down to do it. Like I said earlier, I just need to find more slots in which to do that.

The Plan
I cleared up a few posts that I’ve been sitting on for a little while and now have just two posts left for 2022. I’ve completely finished off my posts for Sankarea: Undying Love which is pretty much going to take over this site for a while. It’s going to be fun!

Final Thoughts
I’m itching to get back into the publishing side of things once more and I’m hoping RIP Tide will be the start I need. I’ve been thinking about the cover for a little while now and have some reference images to work from. Hopefully, I’ll have time to do some work on that too. It’s been a while, so I’m planning on giving myself plenty of time to get it looking how I want. It will be a good excuse to learn more about my digital drawing tablet, although I’ll definitely do the first pass with a pencil! Plus, I’m going to keep the words going. Gotta keep on keeping on…
Anyhow, thanks for reading.
