Honey Trap Shared House (Volume 3) – It’s a Blood Bath!
What happened?
Obviously, the other girls are instantly put on guard against another person looking to get the secret defence information out of Hayato (and also the idea of losing Hiyato to someone else is too much). However, Kyouka manages to talk her way into getting a room, although she initially tried to move into Hiyato’s room. Since she has already started off strong, she’s not going to back down and forces Hiyato to stay in her room while she changes before he gives her a tour. When he turns around, she’s wearing the cosplay from his favourite childhood manga. He’s almost putty in her hands, especially when she starts faithfully reciting lines. Then, when she reveals a crest on her chest which she needs him to remove with the special cream that would break the curse (also from the manga), he realises what he has to do. He goes on the offensive and tries to out-honey-trap her by grabbing her boob and going to town on her!
That’s when Seraphy comes in, also in a cosplay from his favourite manga. The two end up fighting while Hiyato slips out. Kyouka starts to think that Seraphy is a bit dumb, but then she kills a cockroach with the blade attached to her ankle. Maybe, they aren’t all complete pushovers. Kyouka checks in with a middleman who explains that the three girls living there already are three of the most renowned secret agents in the world and that she needs to be careful, despite appearances. Then, he suggests that Hyouka invite Hiyato to a karaoke booth controlled by their people where they can finally be alone. However, when she tries, everyone turns up. Disappointed, she leaves the room and then phones Hiyato. She pulls him into another room and explains that she wants to get out of the business and suggests that they exchange information and sell it to their governments for a price. Hiyato says he needs time to think about that, which is perfect because there is a Halloween cosplay event coming up that Emily suggests they enter.

What did you think?
Things just got turned up a notch. I love the direction this series is heading in now. From the way that Hyouka has revealed that she wants to leave the business and how she reacted to having what felt like a group of friends for the first time, it’s starting to look like Hiyato’s Shared House Familia is going to turn into a refuge for retiring spies. Hiyato obviously recognised the middleman who approached Hyouka after the cosplay event and is no doubt going to go after him, freeing Hyouka from his influence. I can see all of them slowly coming together, but not in the sense that they all flip to Hiyato’s side. I think they will end up as an independent group that can’t be touched by anyone.
Does that mean an end to the “sexy accidents” and outrageous shenanigans? No, I don’t think so. The dynamic will continue where all of the girls are trying to win Hiyato to their side, but not in the sense of flipping him. I see this becoming a found family series with everyone getting what they want. At the moment, I don’t think they all know exactly what that is, but that will be the journey. Hyouka can see that they already behave like a group of old friends and that is what will bring her into the group permanently. Anyhow, this series is a lot of fun and I love the way things are developing.

What was your highlight?
So, Emily suggested the Halloween cosplay contest as a way to get Hiyato to help her with her body measurements so that she could get a good costume. Of course, that started with the bust. Well, before he could do any other measurements, Maria stormed in and demanded he measure her bust too. Then, Seraphy entered too requiring the same. They all forced Hiyato to measure them and then revealed that they had already bought costumes that looked about right anyhow, so none of this was necessary. However, this apparent nonchalant approach to cosplay upset Hyouka who is a professional cosplayer as her cover. She made them all get measured properly and then helped them tailor their costumes.
They ended up winning the group costume contest and loads of photos of Hiyato dressed as a sexy werewolf flooded the internet, much to the annoyance of his handlers who had to scrub every image before anyone recognised him. They probably didn’t need to bother as everyone in the spy business seemed to know who everyone else was, although they all seemed to think that no one else had the same intel as them. It’s kind of funny. Anyhow, I wasn’t expecting a cosplay segment in this series, but it was a welcome surprise. Hopefully, we’ll get a beach vacation or hot springs visit in the near future. Anything is possible!
