What happened?
As soon as Carla felt Deja vu, she released fairies into the city. They are unaffected by time so are not subject to loopers. They also create tiny changes to the world around them, meaning that an information the time traveller brought back with them is now useless. That takes care of the [Save Point], and Hinako may have revealed Junko’s cheat. There wasn’t a single mark on Junko’s neck despite Hinako attempt to cut her throat. That meant that Junko had [Absolute Territory] giving her the ability to cancel any attacks made on her. Of course, that doesn’t mean she’s impervious to everything. Junko is still human, after all.
Carla swarms Junko with Man Eaters, attempting to starve her of oxygen until she passes out. If they kill her, everything will be reset. It seems to be working. Then, a sudden blinding flash of light engulfed everything, and when it was gone, so were most of the Man Eaters. Did Junko have another trick? Better than that, she had another cheat. [Absolute Territory] was the skill meant for Hinako. Junko’s real cheat was [Boundary Severance Attack] which sliced through everything in its path, including Carla’s right arm. Junko closed in to finish Carla off once and for all, but Hinako wasn’t about to sit back and watch.
Hinako used a berserker serum to give her a slight boost of power while healing her injuries. It wasn’t much but it bought them enough time for Ellis to find them. Junko’s mood changed when she saw Ellis, and Hinako had an idea as to why. With Junko’s cheat, she could have killed them all without engaging them. However, time has already been reset several times which means Junko died each time. Hinako realised that Ellis was the key. Carla gave Ellis a quick update on Junko’s skills and then left to protect Hinako. Before Ellis and Junko’s fight could begin, they were interrupted by the four elite Paladins. Things were about to get very messy!
What did you think?
I absolutely love this series. It is completely insane and also wonderfully clever. I love the time travel elements, and the puzzles that come from that. You don’t have to be a genius to realise that Ellis was probably the reason that Junko died each time, but the way that it happened was intriguing, at least, the first time which was shown to us in a bonus chapter at the end of the volume. Somehow, Hinako died. That awakened the White Titan who appeared to destroy everything with a cataclysmic attack. That made the fight that much more interesting. Kill Junko and time resets. Kill Hinako and Ellis kills everything, and time resets.
Luckily, there was a way out, but it needed some quick thinking from Hinako. Junko attempted to reset time by slitting her throat with her [Boundary Severance Attack], but she should have gone harder as Hinako took a mouthful of berserker serum and then kissed Junko, forcing it into her mouth. The pain was too much for her to bear. She passed out, but that wasn’t the end of it as the Castle, which appears to be the remains of an intergalactic battleship was activated by the High Elf. It’s main weapon was fired at Ellis, regardless of the civilians around them. Hinako fell into a cavern deep beneath the city. Carla went after Hinako while Ellis took on the battleship.
Ellis’ fight became more complicated as one of the Elite Paladins, the giant, had survived and was attempting to kill or trap Ellis too. Regardless, it was utterly epic as Ellis used all of her powers to throw part of the city at the battleship and then catch it’s shell and send it back where it came from. And, as for the Elite Paladins, I loved how Junko and Ellis basically ignored them and continued fighting, killing three of them in the crossfire. So much for the elites… Then, Hinako managed to activate a giant mecha from inside the battleship and was able to ride it with Carla back into the fight. Elves, demons, giants, mechas, spaceships. This series has it all, and I can’t get enough of it. Sadly, the next volume doesn’t come out until January 2026, although I have already pre-ordered it.
