Honey Trap Shared House (Volume 5) – You Really Are a Handful!
What happened?
Hiyato had made contact with the wife and already made some progress with his honey trap. The chief had been similarly successful. So, that left Hiyato with some time to kill, and with the girls all incredibly bored and desperate for some attention, they all went out on Emily’s boat where they did a bit of diving and explored the area. However, there was an island that they were warned to stay away from, which sounds like an invitation to a group of international spies. Then, as they were starting to think nothing would happen, the boat was attacked by giant tentacles that instantly grabbed Hyouka and Seraphy.

Maria attacked the tentacles, but found that she couldn’t hurt them. To make matters worse, she too ended up caught up in the tentacles. Eventually, Hiyato rushed to the rescue, slicing one of the tentacles in half and revealing it’s mechanical nature. The tentacles disappeared below the water, allowing them to head back to the mainland, but Hiyato’s interest had been further peaked. Maybe they could get some details from business man and his wife, Hiyato’s real mission on this trip. However, Hiyato soon learned that the husband was not the one they were after. The wife poisoned Hiyato and had him transferred to the mysterious island.

When Hiyato woke up, he found John Bider sitting in front of him. The chief had also been captured and was about to become a plaything of the wife. Bider revealed that he was planning on ruling the world from the shadows. Everything would be decided by him. It would be the end to wars. So, what did he want with Hiyato? Well, he wanted Hiyato to join his organisation – Cthulhu. Hiyato refused. Then, things got interesting as the girls had all tracked Hiyato to the island and secretly helped him escape. Unfortunately, Bider escaped again, but they did secure a laptop. What would they discover?

What did you think?
This series continues to be a lot of fun. It’s hard to believe that they all still think that no one knows that they are all spies at this stage, but I’m fine with it that way. There’s an extra layer of tension that also acts as a way to maintain some light-hearted comedy to go with the raunchy comedy. It also stops them from becoming an unstoppable force as they have to maintain appearances. In the last post, I had predicted that the wife would be a spy too, but I wasn’t expecting her to be working with Bider. I guess we know for sure who the big bad villain is.

There were a couple more chapters after the conclusion to the mysterious island plot. The first saw Emily going on a mission to investigate Romantic Mode, the base of Seraphy’s operations. However, she had no idea who she would be working with and mistakenly assumed it was Hiyato and Maria who she bumped into. Unsure what was going on, they both played along. The staff in Romantic Mode almost dropped dead when they saw three top spies walk in together. Emily slipped away and ended up becoming a costume model for Seraphy’s contact. Meanwhile, Maria decided to attempt to secretly flash Hiyato… Good times!

Finally, Seraphy ended up going on a mission with the staff of Romantic Mode to perform a series of honey traps to get information from a large conference. Seraphy was there as protection, but she was told that she could join the honey trapping whenever she wanted. Then, they noticed Hiyato at the hotel and decided to practice on him first. Surely, they would succeed if they all went after him. Seraphy managed to get him away from them, but that backfired spectacularly. Things ended on a bit of a cliff hanger as Hiyato and Seraphy were trapped in a cabin by a blizzard for the night, although I think someone else arranged for Hiyato to be there. Unfortunately, I’ll have to wait until December 2025 to find out. Still, it’s worth the wait. I’m loving this series.

This manga looks spicy!
It is, and it’s so much fun! I picked it up on a whim, but it’s now one that I check out as soon as a new volume is released.
