Author Journey (May 6, 2024)
Interruption must have been the word of the week last week. I don’t think I got to sit down and focus on one thing for more than a couple of minutes. Still, where there’s a will, there’s a way!
Author Journey (May 6, 2024)
Favourite Moment!
So, my week was littered with Real Life Events, family and work-related. Sometimes, they even overlapped… Anyhow, neither of those makes up my favourite moment of the week, so the less said the better. Last week, we had our first family golf lesson. The kids have never played. They’ve not even picked up a golf club before. My wife occasionally has to play for work and I’ve played a couple of casual rounds with friends. Anyhow, we were able to get some instructions from a course pro while my kids smashed, kicked, and threw golf balls down the driving range. It was nice to work out why my ball occasionally shoots off to the right. However, to fix it, I need to practice the same shot about eight billion times… well, that’s what the pro said, and who am I to argue with him? So, I guess I’ll be going down the driving range a little more often. Not the worst advice that I’ve ever had.
Writing!
I’ve started on the groundwork for my rewrite of my horror short story, Asteroidea. That included rereading the original story and cringing at my writing from six years ago and instantly finding new and exciting ways to tell the story. I’ve even changed up the names of some of the main characters and the roles that they play. I’ve still got some work to do getting all the beats together, but it’s progress. The more I have planned too, the more I’ll be able to handle the constant distractions and interruptions.
Anime!
I got through thirteen episodes of anime last week which included the final four episodes of Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable! and the first four episodes of my next series – ‘Tis Time for “Torture”, Princess. I’ll be honest, after three episodes, I was starting to worry that it was getting very, very formulaic. However, episode four dispelled those concerns. On top of those, I watched my regular weekly shows.

Manga!
I was sure that I wasn’t going to make it with this goal, but somehow I did. I read three manga volumes and then rewarded myself by agreeing to buy eight more on Facebook Marketplace. I pick those up tomorrow so that should be exciting. They are second-hand and selling for a very reasonable price.

Aspirations for the week!
I’ve no idea how this week will go. As far as making plans go, as soon as I make some they seem to get railroaded almost instantly. So, I’m going to take it easy and do what I can. Hopefully, that’ll force me to make the most of whatever time I do get. Also, last week saw the end of my reviews of Bastard‼ Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy and rather than start a new series, I’ll be moving my Mushoku Tensei posts to the morning which will mean I’ll be doing one less post a week. Hopefully, that will help me rebuild my bank of scheduled posts. One can dream!
I just want to get back to things being a little calmer. It’s what my blood pressure would want… Not replacing Bastard!! will help with that goal and once Rokka is done, I’ll do the same thing by moving Slime to the morning and reducing my workload further. Think calm thoughts… Anyhow, I better get back to work. Thanks for reading.
