Author Journey (September 2, 2024)
Well, I suppose I was overdue for a real-life family event… Progress took a bit of a beating last week, which is why I like to keep a buffer. Now, I need to rebuild. Hopefully, things will be a little smoother this week!

Favourite Moment!
My adventures in the Japanese book market continued this week as I found the complete collection of Sora No Otoshimono (Heaven’s Lost Property). Amazingly, I got all twenty volumes of the manga for less than $80. Now, they are in Japanese, but there hasn’t been an official English translation so I’m going to attempt to muddle through. I’d like to think I know enough about the early parts of the story that I should be able to work out mostly what’s going on from the pictures. Then, I have my trusty translator app on my phone that will get me the rest of the way. I’m also hoping that I’ll have time to learn a bit of Japanese as I go through it. Maybe, I’ll look at doing chapter reviews so that I can focus on one small part for longer. Now, I just have to wait for them to fly across the Pacific Ocean and then across Canada. I’m pretty excited as I need to work out what they were trying to do with the final movie – Eternal My Master.
The Week That Was…
Things had gone really well the week before and I was keen to carry that into last week. However, one of my boys got sick on Monday and couldn’t go to camp. Don’t worry, it’s nothing serious. The world has changed from when I was a child and the only time I couldn’t go to school was if my head was in a bucket and I was incapable of moving off the couch. By Tuesday, my other son was sick and both were home. The eldest went back to camp on Wednesday, but the youngest stayed home all week. Needless to say, I didn’t get much done, but school starts tomorrow so things should return to normal soon…
I only managed to run ten kilometres twice this week because I too had developed a head cold on Thursday and still have it today. There’s always something trying to slow me down. I didn’t write as many posts as I’d like, I didn’t read much manga, and I didn’t do any writing. Thankfully, my insomnia is still thriving so I have at least watched a load more anime. How’s that for a silver lining? I have been struggling with my story again and have decided that I’m going back to the original opening chapter as it’s action-packed and that feels more natural. Whenever I try to slow things down I end up dropping too much information. When I write action, I feel it comes out more naturally so that’s the plan for this week.
Reading, Writing, Watching!
I only had time to read one book this week and the review for that will be up tomorrow. It’s the start of a series that I’ve not covered before so this is going to be a blast. I have eighteen volumes in total and the next two preordered so I have plenty to do. I did write up my series review for Gigant which was a wonderful series and at only ten volumes long, I’d recommend checking it out. There is a lot of action so each book doesn’t take that long to read. Anyhow, you can see that review on Thursday.
I did manage to finish watching Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku which was my treadmill entertainment and even started on my next show – Delicious in Dungeon. I’m two episodes in but very happy with my choice so far. During the midnight hours… I’ve been flying through shows. Last week, I watched Chillin’ in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers and Re: Monster. I’ve got a few reviews to finish off.
As I said, there was no writing this week which was down to the constant interruptions and my indecision about how to begin my story again. I think going back to the original opening that I used when I first published them is going to be the right way to go. Of course, I’m writing it completely anew but it will be the same scene. Hopefully, that’ll get the ball properly rolling. Once I get going, it will be much harder to stop. It’s just starting that’s the issue!

Aspirations for the week!
I need to shake this cold so that I can get back on the treadmill again, but otherwise, it’s pretty much everything I said last week. I need to get back to writing. I need to rebuild my buffer which is now down to just 8 scheduled posts. That’s going to involve finishing Keijo!!!!!!!! and starting on the next series that I want to explore episodically. It’s one I almost started a couple of years ago, but then put off to do more seasonal shows. It’s going to be interesting because I’ve noticed it’s a fairly polarizing show.
So, I’ve got lots to do. Things kind of went backwards last week which is annoying, but that’s life. It definitely makes me more determined to build a nice big buffer of posts and catch up on my writing. Having a bit of time to think about it wasn’t a bad thing as I wouldn’t want to write more chapters and then decide that I need to go back to the beginning again. I guess, I had better get on with it. Thanks for reading!
I hope you guys get a little rest and feel better 🤗❤️
Thanks. We’re trying!
Hope you feel better soon. I remember back when my kids were in school — the joys of the them bringing various illnesses home. I have to say, I’m much healthier the more I can work from home!
I’m really looking forward to reading your reviews of Hell’s Paradise and Delicious in Dungeon.
Thanks. I find they overlap, so there’s a constant germ presence throughout the school year. Need to work on my immune system a little…
Thanks again. Hell’s Paradise will be next week. Delicious in Dungeon could be a while, but I’m hopefully getting back on the treadmill today.
I hope you’re feeling much better! I can’t wait to read about Delicious in Dungeon. I began it, but never finished it.
Thanks, I’m just two episodes in, but it’s been funny so far. Hoping that we get a bit of a mix of adventure too.
