To finish off their training camp, they are allowed to select their opponent. Before anyone has the chance to say anything, Usagi Tsukishita challenges Nozomi. She plans on teaching her a lesson for stealing Mio away… What?
Keijo!!!!!!!! (Episode 8) – The Dramatic East-West War!!!!
What happened?
Before they can get to the main event Yoshida challenges Non to a rematch and it goes exactly the same way it did the first time. Yoshida charged Non, Non’s butt absorbed the impact, and then Yoshida went flying. Next up is Usagi and Nozomi, although Nozomi can’t quite work out what she did to upset Usagi who is determined to take her down. Well, it would appear that Usagi worships Mio and doesn’t like how close they appear to be getting, or rather how much interest Mio is showing in Nozomi. It should be a great chance for Nozomi to show off what she learned in the turnip field, especially as Usagi is a small, fast fighter.
At first, Nozomi struggled to keep up with Usagi, missing with numerous attacks. Then, she started to use the Butt Flash and soon made contact. That just made Usagi go even faster, but it was of no use. Nozomi cornered her with numerous attacks and forced her back to the edge of the land. Then, Nozomi launched a huge attack, which Usagi appeared to have dodged by leaning back. However, that just opened her up to Nozomi’s newest attack Meteor Hit. Nozomi won. Shirayuki was impressed that Nozomi added yet another new move to her repertoire, however, the fact that she even named it was more impressive. Usagi was upset, but the race had given her lots to think about. Maybe now, she wouldn’t obsess about Mio quite so much…
So, with training camp done, the girls went to Suruga Keijo Training School for the East-West War. They were amazed by the facilities and the sponsorship deals the school had. Then, they heard the coach of the Suruga team talking down about Setouchi and how they had never beaten them. All of their pros were low level and frankly, it was embarrassing. She believed they should close Setouchi and merge the schools. The teachers obviously weren’t up to it there. That was the final straw for the girls who marched in to make her take back her words.
After a brief confrontation with some of the players, Miss Hokuto and Miss Kobayakawa apologised and made their girls leave. In private, they thanked them for standing up for them but would have preferred they did it in the East-West War which was about to begin. The War would be a best-of-three format with teams of four from each school competing against one another. The first group consisted of Mio Kusakai, Sayaka Miyata, Kotone Fujisaki, and Mari Murata. Sayaka was determined to make an impression although she had no idea that her father was in the crowd.
What did you think?
I’ve not spoken about the bizarre rivalry that they’ve been teasing for a little while between Usagi and Nozomi because it’s basically a nothing event. Sure, it gave Nozomi a chance to show off her Butt Flash technique and even drop a new move on her, but otherwise it felt like wasted and forced drama. There’s plenty more we could have been looking at with Nozomi’s background of which we’ve hardly seen anything. Anyhow, the training arc finished well and it set up the main event. Until a couple of episodes ago, we had no idea about the East-West War and now, it’s all I want. We’ve seen lots of fairly competitive contests, but nothing of this scale.
As you might expect from a sports anime, this season has been all building towards the big game, the main event, the big finale, the battle between butts and boobs! Honestly, the fact that we have three matches and four episodes means that this is going to be exciting as hell. I can’t wait to see what these girls have got hidden up their sleeves… Especially when we’re about to be introduced to a bunch of new players and crazy new lands. I’ve enjoyed every moment of this series once more and even knowing what comes, I can’t wait to dive into the East-West War. Anyhow, I’m off to watch the next episode. Let’s go Sayaka and Mio!
