What happened?
After the entrance exams, Nozomi was certain that she had failed to earn a spot at Setouchi, but she was delighted when she was proven wrong. However, upon arriving, it’s become quite apparent that very few people are expecting anything from her. In the entrance exams, Nozomi bonded with Sayaka Miyata, a former judo prodigy turned Keijo player. Both have been placed in dorm room 309 which is known as the place where they send the ones they expect to quit first. In there, they meet Non Toyoguchi, a bubbly girl from a small village who is desperately trying to hide that fact. Then, there’s Kazane Aoba, a shy and quiet girl. Nozomi is still surprisingly confident, but Sayaka is wondering what she did to deserve this.
Anyhow, they are there to work towards becoming professional Keijo players and that work starts now. By now, you may be wondering exactly what Keijo is. Well, I’ve got you covered. It is a sport that is played on floating islands in a pool. The girls can move around the islands, however, they can only touch it with their feet. Anything else and they are disqualified. Touch the water and they lose. Of course, the main object is to force your opponent to break one of those rules, but to do that you can only hit them with your boobs or your bum. Oh, and there’s one more thing – it is awesome!!!!!!!!

Before deciding that it was time to rewatch Keijo!!!!!!!! and record my thoughts for the future, I started watching another series that seemed kind of similar. That series was Wanna be the Strongest in the World. It’s about a pop idol who becomes a professional wrestler. It sounded like it might be fun. I wrote a review for episode one, thinking it would be all right. However, after the second episode, I decided that I would put a pin in it and rewatch Keijo!!!!!!!! It’s already proving to be the right decision. After just one episode of Keijo!!!!!!!!, the girls have already shown more personality.
One of the best things about Keijo!!!!!!!! is that it takes the sport incredibly seriously. Even with the insanely ridiculous attacking and defensive moves, it’s deadly serious. That just seems to make it funnier and surprisingly more intense. It shouldn’t make any sense, but once the race begins, I cannot take my eyes off the screen for fear of missing a killer move, counter, or something else entirely. I loved this series the first time I watched it and I’m so glad that my initial thoughts are holding out. This is a ridiculous premise with surprisingly well-developed and interesting characters.
