Chiho races to fight Satan, but will she get there in time to save Rei? Of course, Momonoki’s team has already engaged the target, but it’s their first time facing one of these monsters so who knows how they’ll do?

What happened?
Rei is struggling to keep his sanity as the influence of Satan is felt throughout Tokyo. He doesn’t know why, but he thinks he wants to kill himself. Chiho is not going to let that happen. Pregnant or not, she’s going to fight Satan. She races out of her apartment and flies towards the city centre where Satan has already begun his attack. Meanwhile, Rei has begun to climb to the top of one of the city’s skyscrapers.
Kitou has been tasked with distracting Satan while the others get close enough to attack using Chiho’s method. He grows large and charges at Satan, hitting him with an energy attack. Satan fights back with his telepathic abilities, almost pushing Kitou over. That’s when Shiozawa launched himself at Satan’s legs growing bigger as he approached. He knocks Satan over which gives Momonoki a chance to climb inside his nostril and Heffner the opening to get inside his ear. They continue to push deeper so that when they do grow larger, they’ll do as much damage as possible. Shinozawa shrinks back down and climbs inside Satan’s mouth. However, it would appear that the AI has learnt from the previous battles as Satan expels them all with a fiery blast.
He then catches Momonoki in one hand and continues to fight Kitou. Things are looking dire, which is when Chiho arrives at the battle and flies full speed into Satan’s eye. There’s no way he can do anything about that. While he struggles, clutching his damaged eye, the others follow Chiho’s lead and shoot into his other eye. Moments later, all five of them burst through Satan’s body, ripping him to pieces. Rei found himself sitting on the ledge of a very tall building, unsure of what he was doing. He heard the news of Chiho’s victory and rushed to see her. However, another five Titans have been unleashed by the AI.
What did you think?
I think I must have read this entire volume in about five minutes. I read it a second time, just to make sure. This was the most thrilling and exciting volume of manga that I’ve read in a long time. The stakes were incredible. If they couldn’t stop Satan most of Tokyo would die or kill themselves, Rei included. It had already killed millions in the United States and was prepared to keep going. The action was explosive and unrelenting. My heart was pounding all the way through. Then, after winning to have their celebrations dashed so quickly was insane. Five more Titans appeared and attacked. They defeated them fairly quickly using their better understanding of these monsters, but they were just a decoy to allow Satan to recover. The volume ended with it moving towards Rei, who was watching from the riverside.
In this volume, we got to see Rei’s mother’s complete about-face as she celebrated Chiho’s victory with everyone else, however, she may have been the only one who proudly called Chiho her daughter. It’s amazing to see how far she’s changed from the first time she met Chiho. Even after she had defeated the first God of Destruction, she still wasn’t happy about Chiho dating her son (and with understandable reasons). Still, I think the general theme of this story is that anyone is capable of amazing things if the situation is right. To dismiss someone because they’re a pornstar or anything, for that matter, is not giving them the chance to prove themselves. Not everyone can become a hero, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have value. Anyhow, I can’t wait for the next volume. This is the wildest ride!
