Please Put Them On, Takamine-san (Volume 9) – They’re Soft… Dewy… and Jiggly!

Shirota basically confessed his feelings for Takane, even if he did caveat that with a promise to really tell her when they got into the same college. Would that make things awkward for Takane and what would Eri make of things?
Please Put Them On, Takamine-san (Volume 9) – They’re Soft… Dewy… and Jiggly!
What happened?
Shirota was worried that his confession would make things weird between him and Takane, but it appeared that he had nothing to worry about. Well, not exactly. She started to distance herself from him, not even allowing him to replace her underwear… which was his main job, and she even started to talk to him with her public persona rather than the snarky and brash manner that he was so used to. What if his confession had repulsed her and she no longer wanted to keep him around. After all, if he couldn’t do his job, there was no reason for him to be there.

However, Eri noticed something different. She realised that Takane was looking down so she invited her to play tennis and let some steam off. After that, they played basketball and then went bowling. Takane told Eri about her “friend’ and the problems she was having with her crush… Of course, Eri saw through that and was stunned to discover that Shirota had confessed his feelings to her, but that was nothing compared to what happened next. Takane explained how she had noticed… I mean, her “friend” had noticed some tumescence while giving her crush a massage, which would be a good sign. However, her… “friend” then experienced a situation which should have given the same results, but did not.

At this point, Eri was losing her mind as she came to terms with all the things that Shirota had done with Takane. She was getting increasingly jealous, but was still determined to help them out, even at her own expense. However, they then went to karaoke where Takane gave Eri a first hand experience of what happened, to see if she agreed that it was indeed arousing and should have resulted in more tumescence. It took every Eri had to not lose control of her instincts, as she reluctantly told Takane to get dressed before Ruririn found them…

What did you think?
This series just gets better and better. I love both Takane and Shirota, but Eri is undoubtedly my favourite. The scene where Takane sandwiched Eri’s face between her bare boobs (pasties on the nipples for personal reasons of course) was hilarious. Eri was already worked up imagining everything they’d been through, such as Shirota liking sweat off Takane’s thighs. She agreed that it was a very enjoyable experience and anyone might well experience some tumescence in a moment like that. I’m starting to think that Eri is the reader self insert character. She sees it from all the angles and has the same reactions that the readers are likely to have.

That was taken to the next level when Takane revealed that her “friend” accidentally sat on her crush’s face without any panties on and then proceeded to do the same thing to Eri as she tried to wonder how an accidental situation like that might present itself. Eri’s exact words were “She whaaaargajkhfgskdj!” which I think perfectly captured the moment better than anything else she could have said. Takane can be so brutally honest and lacking in inhibitions that scenes quickly get ridiculously out of control, and that has been one of the best aspects of this series.

Of course, there’s also the sweet side of things where we are watching Takane trying to make her dream of getting together with the childhood friend who helped look after a stray cat with her when she was younger. And, things took an incredible turn towards the end of the volume. After her discussion with Eri, Takane tried to make things as normal as possible between her and Shirota, maybe even taking things further than before. However, she then walked Shirota through the park that they used to play in together. It looked like her realised that she was the girl, but whether he will say anything we’ll have to wait for the next volume, which currently doesn’t have a release date… I’ll be waiting and watching for an update.
