Please Put Them On, Takamine-san (Volume 8) – You’re Fired!
What happened?
It was time for the entrance ceremony at Teitoua High School which included a speech from the Student Council President, Takane Takamine. Before the ceremony started, she made Shirota hide in the podium so that he could replace her panties as many times as needed. The speech needed to be perfect. So, when the first year representative fell down the stairs from the stage, Takamine took off her panties and rewound time. However, rather than doing it to stop her falling, Takamine did it so that she could save her in a more spectacular manner. When she got to the podium, Shirota stared at her bare legs, preparing to replace her panties. Now that he realised that he liked her, it was a very different proposition.

In a hurry, Shirota replaced her panties back to front, and it was a G-string. Hopefully, she wouldn’t notice. When the entrance ceremony had concluded, Takamine asked Shirota to help her in the Student Council Office. Once inside, he slipped over, spilling the pile of paper he had been carrying and knocking Takamine over in the process. She landed on top of him with her back-to-front panties in his face. He tried to move, but she told him not to or he would make the paper more disorganised. After collecting them all up and trying to stand, Takamine fell back onto him, sitting directly on his crotch.

However, Shirota was desperate not to get aroused and was working through some difficult questions in his head. Thinking he had succeeded, he was surprised when Takamine took a stern approach with him. Then, she fired him. She had no need of a piece of furniture with romantic feelings. Takamine hoped that he would be happy with whoever it was. Shirota realised that she misunderstood the situation and managed to diflect things so that he blamed the study questions and not him being attracted to someone else, which he wasn’t. Later on, Shirota met up with Eri for lunch to apologise for the Akanishi situation. However, she had come to here if he had kissed Takamine yet!

What did you think?
This was a fantastic volume which was a direct result of all the work the author had done prior to this moment. Eri knows that Shirota likes Takamine. She also knows that Takamine likes Shirota, a lot. So, she was in a position to finally push these two together, despite their best intentions… I loved the scene in the cafe where Eri was talking loudly about her relationship with Rurika which made Rurika want to hide and simultaneously kill Eri. I do wish Eri had just said Takamine likes you, make a move already, however, I understand that he needs to realise that he’s worthy of her.

The scene in the Student Council Office was amazing, too. I loved the moment when Takamine said “Oops… Lost my balance again…” and sat on Shirota’s crotch. How very Austin Powers of her. I also loved the scene where they were talking about what kind of person they like, and since Shirota didn’t really want to answer, Takamine decided to test out some characters that all ended up being lust monsters. She’s not the least bit subtle about things. The problem is that Shirota is the type of person she likes, but she’s too shy to say it directly, and he’s too self-depricating to realise it.

However, the volume ended after they had a very nice time at the mall. Shirota showed off some of his planning skills by booking a table at a buffet and then saved her from a fitting room disaster. It turns out that Takamine can use her powers if anyone removes her underwear. Shirota also wrote her a letter that basically said he wanted to be with her forever, although it was a little ambiguous. Then, as she got on the bus home, he ran after her and yelled that he would explain everything once they were going to the same college. However, the old couple on the bus already knew.
