Keijo!!!!!!!! (Episode 6) – Alluring Kyoto Trip!!!!
What happened?
Nozomi is still getting used to eating in the Elite class canteen and despite eating the same thing as before, she can’t help but feel like it’s fancier… Anyhow, they quickly head out on the road to Kyoto for a special training camp. After arriving earlier than expected, they are given some free time to spend in Kyoto before their rooms are ready. Of course, everyone has an idea as to what they can do with that time. Hanabi wants to go to a cafe and look for cute guys, Mio wants to play truth or dare with cute girls, while Rin wants to go to a gym and work out.
Sayaka, however, wants to spend some more time with her friends, but can’t seem to make herself heard over the others. It reminds her of her childhood and how everyone would give her a wide berth because of her family’s training dojo. Luckily, Nozomi was quick to realise what Sayaka wanted and waited until everyone had gone to slip away and follow her. Non and Kazane had the same idea so they got to spend their time together, seeing the sights and visiting the shops. Of course, all of their purchases were confiscated until the end of the trip by Miss Kobayakawa.
Since they would be split into groups for training, they were split the same way for their sleeping arrangements. That meant that Nozomi was going to room with Mio, Yoshida, and Hanabi. They also weren’t allowed their mobile phones so there was a long line to use the payphone. Nozomi hogged it for ages updating her parents on how well everything was going. Later Sayaka was walking by and noticed that no one was using it so she phoned home. She spoke to her mother, but her father was not willing to come to the phone. The next morning, they began their training regime with a run, however, there was another lady jogging and she breezed past them without seeming to break a sweat.
They soon learned that she was Kyoko Shirayuki, the Missile Lady of Kyoto. She was one of the three professional Keijo players who would be training them and she was assigned to the In-fighters, Nozomi’s group. After getting them all in shape, Kyoko decided that the best way to learn about them was to race. Nozomi jumped at the chance to show what she could do, however, she soon discovered that the gulf between an amateur and a pro was significant. She couldn’t land a single hit. In fact, she barely got near. And when she tried to charge up the Vacuum Butt Cannon, Kyoko stepped in and stopped her before she got going. Then, she sent her flying with a butt tap to her rear. She told Nozomi that she needed to understand her body’s weakness if she hoped to get stronger, although Nozomi didn’t know what she meant.
What did you think?
Another great trope from sports anime appears and it does exactly what it’s supposed to. The girls got to go on a training camp and learn just how far from the top they are, but this is also a valuable learning experience. You can’t improve if you don’t see that you’re not perfect. Nozomi went first so the others got to see how badly she did against Kyoko. Of course, they will likely do just as badly, but Nozomi’s spirit will have taken a bigger hit. Her confidence must be shattered after that, so it’s a pivotal moment for her. Will she give up or will she push on and accept that she isn’t the complete player she thought she was? A lot of people can’t get past this moment, so this is going to be a big test for her.
We also got to see a little more of Sayaka’s situation. From the earlier episodes, we know that she was a judo prodigy, similar to how Nozomi was a gymnastics prodigy, but we don’t know anything about why she enrolled in the Keijo school. This episode showed us that the decision may have been made to get back at her father for forcing her to train without breaks and pretty much took her childhood away from her. He obviously resents the fact that she moved away from judo, so a lot of tension comes with her decision. It’s going to be great seeing if they can rebuild those bridges and that’s going to come down to him seeing how happy she is with the choice she made. Also, I had to laugh at Sayaka in the UTM and how she was instantly shot down by Rin for thinking it made her boobs bouncier. Savage!

Oh, I remember this one being talked before. I just never got to watch it.
Give it a go. It’s surprisingly good and not just because of the fan service.
