With the Captain badly hurt and possibly dying, the party had to choose to leave him while they fought off the enemies. Hopefully, there would still be time if they survived to save him, otherwise they might all die!

What happened?
At first, they fought the Captain’s head had been completely removed from his body. Thankfully, it hadn’t but the wound was deep enough to leave him hanging on by a thread. Unfortunately, they were on the third floor and facing a chamber full of monsters. There was no time to cast a healing spell and who knows what else they might face as they tried to escape. Female Wizard took control of the party and managed to guide them to defeat the enemy. However, they had no time to celebrate. Half-elf Scout grabbed what loot he could while Myrmidon Monk carried the captain.
Thanks to Sword Maiden’s maps, they quickly made their way out of the dungeon with no further incidents. That meant they were able to focus on getting the Captain to the temple as quickly as possible. They drew many concerned looks as the Captain’s lifeless body rested against the Myrmidon Monk’s chest. After handing his body over to the nun, there was nothing left for them to do but wait.
The Captain woke with a gasp and was surprised to see that he was inside the temple and the nun was naked beside him. She was pleasantly surprised given that a resurrection was not always guaranteed to succeed. Some simply didn’t want to return. She told him that he should take the chance to be thankful to everything. It was not the gods who saved him, but those around him. He thanked her and then left the temple. Once he had had a chance to recover, he told the party he wanted to go back and face the ninjas once more. It was less about revenge and more about regaining his honour as a swordsman. They agreed.
What did you think?
Well, I did say that would happen, so while I predicted it thanks to the numerous clues, I was pleased. Partially because the Captain survived and partially because I was right. Either way, it was a nice way to show us a little more of his Master who he recalled while he was on the verge of dying. She seems like a hoot. I can’t wait to find out more about her. I liked that the Captain was determined to return and had come up with a plan to defeat them. It’s good that he got that chance, but it really was a close one considering the reaction from everyone else when he was slashed. Had he lost his head entirely, there would be no resurrection. Hopefully, this will make them all a little more cautious.
This volume ended with the Captain discussing the fourth floor with the Knight of Diamonds who seemed to be more than a little frustrated. Amazingly, his party had already mapped the entire floor and had been unable to locate the stairs to the fifth level. This is obviously a problem, but I think we may have already touched on the solution. On the second floor, there is a dark spot on the map that no one has ever returned from. I believe that this will be the answer allowing the adventurers to completely bypass the third and fourth floors. Whether that turns out to be a good idea or not is yet to be seen. Either way, I think this series has plenty more excitement to come.
