Harem in the Labyrinth of Another World (Episode 11) – Order
What happened?
They have the skill stone from the labyrinth and Michio’s crystal has now turned yellow. They can sell it for a lot of money. More than enough to add a blacksmith to the party. They visit with Allen in the hopes of concluding business soon, especially as they need extra help in the labyrinth. Allen, however, only has one dwarf and she may not be of much use to them. Regardless, they ask to see her. Sherry comes out and is incredibly forthright about her situation. She’s a level ten explorer but not a blacksmith. The job didn’t appear.
Michio has a lot of experience with job acquisition and believes that he can get her the job if they try a few things out. Her not being a blacksmith could end up saving them money. Roxanne also points out that Sherry’s ears are fairly small for a dwarf which would indicate she’s older than Allen claims. Of course, he says it’s a birth defect but is willing to lower the price a little more. Michio continues to play hardball and manages to get Allen to throw in a maid’s costume. They agree and the deal is done.
Sherry is handed over to Michio and Roxanne who then take her away. Michio opens a warp point and Roxanne hurries her through. She’s stunned to see that they used teleportation, especially into a house that shouldn’t allow it. She’s even more surprised when Roxanne tells Sherry to sit at the table with them. What kind of a master is Michio? Then, she learns that he can also use magic! Don’t tell anyone though!

What did you think?
So, this episode was all about introducing Sherry to us and showing that she has been unable to attain the job class of blacksmith. We’ve seen Michio gaining jobs constantly and was even able to reassign Roxanne’s primary role. So, this little setback is nothing that he isn’t prepared to deal with. I love that he’s looking at the world through his lens and that often puts him at odds with the conventional local knowledge. This actually makes the isekai part of the story incredibly relevant. Not only are we seeing how he adapts to the new world, but how he is able to go against the preconceptions.
One of my pet peeves is the idea that just because something has always been done a certain way then it should continue. Take traditions and superstitions. They are a great way to hide from change and innovation. If you can’t justify something with reason then it’s time to reassess that thing. Maybe you’ve been missing out on something far better because you’ve followed along with the masses. As an outsider, it’s a lot easier to view things with a critical eye. For me, this has been one of the strengths of this show. Michio has no preconceptions of how things work and is testing everything for himself.
