One-Punch Man (Volume 11) – I’m Done with Teams!

Metal Bat is all that stands between a gigantic centipede monster and a board member of the Hero Association and his son. Meanwhile, Saitama… I mean Charanko is preparing for this first fight in the tournament!
One-Punch Man (Volume 11) – I’m Done with Teams!
What happened?
The gigantic centipede monster races after the board member and his son, but Metal Bat leaps into danger and strikes with his… metal bat… However, the centipede’s armour is too strong, but it did move to avoid its face being struck. Metal Bat brushed himself down and leapt onto its back. He raced towards the head and then pummeled the face with his metal bat. It slowed it down, but Metal Bat was sent flying. Garo, who had been on his way to find Metal Bat, was surprised to see him fly through the air and then come crashing down nearby.
Meanwhile, the competitors for the martial arts tournament had been announced, including Charanko of the Fist of Water Polo, Carbonation School… Anyhow, it meant that Saitama got a chance to see some of his opponents and one who was determined to get Charanko to quit. Saitama wasn’t ready to throw in the towel so he entered the ring with Zakkos. Unfortunately, Zakkos wasn’t able to back up his talk and went down after one slap from Saitama. Of course, the speculation was that Zakkos actually wasn’t that strong, rather than Saitama… I mean Charanko being strong.
While that was going on, Garo got into a fight with Metal Bat that was only stopped because of the arrival of Metal Bat’s little sister. As he walked away, Garo was approached by some monsters who wanted him to join them. In fact, there were monsters attacking all of the cities at once. The Hero Association couldn’t keep up with the number of attacks, and each one of them was Tiger level or higher, leaving the local heroes with all sorts of problems.

What did you think?
Well, I ended up really enjoying the Metal Bat fight with the centipede and Garo. The emergence of monsters all across the cities was good too. The heroes really took a beating… Well, Bang held his own as he continued to search for Garo. And then, there was the martial arts tournament that was interwoven with the outbreak of monsters. It made for some funny transitions, however, I really wanted to sit back and enjoy the tournament. I feel like we will never see the end of it as something will end up interrupting them.
It was a fun, action-packed volume and I’m sure that’s going to continue in the next one. I will say that it’s not quite as good as the early stories, but there’s potential. It almost feels like there’s too much going on at once, but I think that’s the point. Total chaos! Either way, I’m definitely going to keep reading and hopefully catch up to the new releases at some point soon.
