One-Punch Man (Volume 10) – With Everything I’ve Got!

What happened?

Saitama visits Mumen Rider in the hospital and gets to talk to Tank Top Master about Garo. He revealed that Garo was simply impossible to hit and if you can’t hit something, you can’t hurt it. This becomes a concern for Saitaima since his power is basically, hitting things really hard. Later on, he visits Charanko, who is also in hospital after the Garo fight. When Saitama tells him he would like to learn martial arts, he gives him his ticket to a tournament. He can’t enter because it’s in Charanko’s name, but he should be able to watch and pick up a few things. Oh, but there’s a three million yen prize… Maybe, he will enter!

One of the directors of the Hero Foundation was targeted by Garo. That prompts the Hero Foundation to assign heroes to guard each of the board members. Metal Bat is assigned to one board member and his son who wanted to eat poor people sushi for a change… He’s furious that this is the assignment he’s been given and is about to call it a day when a giant centipede monster and carnivorous plant monster attack, taking the board member’s son hostage. Metal Bat easily defeats them, but then bigger and more terrifying versions appear.

Hellish Blizzard is determined to get Saitama to join her group and has come up with a plan. Her group will fight his group and the loser will do whatever the winner wants. As Saitama doesn’t have a group, he brought some friends along. They are King, Bang, and Genos! Blizzard’s group are terrified, but she has a plan. The fight will be on a games console and she has a former pro gamer in her group. However, she hadn’t planned on King being a shut-in gamer too. He defeated her entire team. Now she has to buy them dinner!

What did you think?

For the most part, this series hits all the jokes, however, in this volume, I feel like several of them were a bit too silly. There was Child Emperor’s mask that could assess physical attributes. He used it on Saitama and it couldn’t score him so he assumed he was too weak. Then, he used it on King and it couldn’t score him so he assumed it was because King was too strong. I’m looking forward to people finally recognising that Saitama is a monster because I feel like this joke has run its course. I also feel like this volume was a little too disjointed.

I was looking forward to seeing Saitama compete in the martial arts tournament, but instead, it switched to another storyline which was the heroes protecting the board members from Garos. However, the member that Metal Bat was assigned to watch was attacked by the centipede monsters. I’m not entirely sure where that came from, especially as I was waiting for the tournament and the idea that Garo might crash it was certainly entertaining. Hopefully, volume eleven will give me more of the tournament and more Garo.
