My [Repair] Skill Became a Versatile Cheat, So I Think I’ll Open a Weapon Shop (Volume 5) – Twin Fight!
What happened?
It’s Luke’s next day off and instead of taking it easy, he finds himself travelling to a nearby city to meet with Travis’ blacksmith. Luke wants him to make them some weapons and one special one for Garnet who has come with him. Well, she is his bodyguard! Anyhow, the meeting goes well with Luke giving the blacksmith a mithril sword as part of the trade. Garnet’s weapon will also have an inscription on the blade that will allow Noir to enchant it. Luke is surprised that Garnet and Noir have been able to develop a friendship. Maybe, he’s being a little harsh on Noir.
Then, as they go to head home to Green Hollow, the heavens open up and unleash a torrent of rain. Deciding to stay the night, they hurry to an inn and hope that they have some rooms available. Garnet sees someone she knows and leaves Luke to book the rooms. Their only option is a double room or barrack-style beds. Given that Garnet is a girl pretending to be a guy, he can’t force her to sleep in the barracks so he books the double room. The receptionist hands him some towels and a spell scroll to warm the room. Garnet doesn’t seem the slightest bit fazed by it and is also grateful they avoided the barracks.
Once in their room, they begin to remove their wet clothes. However, Luke notices how little her clothes hide her body when they are wet. It would be hard to hide her gender like this. Then, she notices him staring and makes him turn around. She reveals that she got some information about Green Hollow. Her unit, the Silver Wings are coming in to provide security for the town. That means there probably isn’t much time before the mud golems go after their target which is probably Luke. She leans over his shoulder and shows him a picture of the mud golems. He looks up and notices her looking down at him. Has she always looked this way?
Back in Green Hollow, they make preparations for the likely attack of the mud golems. Sakura has been working on her Channeling Ritual and is seeing some progress. Luke contacted one of the A-Ranked adventurers he asked for help from about buying the dragon parts from his kills. With that, he has a set of armour made from the hide for Garnet, which he laces with Mithril thread and has Noir create a pouch that holds a mana crystal. That night, Sakura and Noir slept at the shop with Luke and Garnet in case Blanc showed up. She did, but Noir was the one to face her!

What did you think?
A lot happened in this volume, however, the most memorable part was the scene between Luke and Garnet in the inn room. There was a lot of sexual tension, which was impressive given that it didn’t feel forced or lewd. Garnet really is becoming my favourite character! There is one thing that continually bothers me. Several times now, I’ve been unsure who was saying what and it’s either because the speech bubble didn’t line up with the character or that what they said seemed contradictory to something they said a second ago. It could be a translation issue too, but it’s not that distracting… I say that, but I noticed enough to want to comment on it.
The fight between Noir and Blanc was fairly epic, especially with the amount of cleavage on show. I can only assume that Noir and Blanc have control over gravity magic otherwise, their backs must be sore as hell. Anyhow, I was surprised to see Noir kill her sister, but not as surprised as when she turned to Luke with a big smile on her face. Sure, it was the right thing to do given that she had turned to the dark side and that she was determined to bring Noir back with her, however, it still should have been fairly traumatic for Noir. It could certainly have been a coping mechanism, but I think it would have been more believable had she been more grief-stricken. Anyhow, it’s still a lot of fun despite those few concerns. It’s also the last volume available until July 2025, so that’s it for now. I’ll be sure to pick it up once it’s published.
