My [Repair] Skill Became a Versatile Cheat, So I Think I’ll Open a Weapon Shop (Volume 2) – The Place Where I Belong…

They found Noir near the entrance to the dragon’s cave, however, she was unable to tell them what happened as someone had placed a curse on her. Luckily, Luke was able to take care of it, but that didn’t prepare them for what they found out!
My [Repair] Skill Became a Versatile Cheat, So I Think I’ll Open a Weapon Shop (Volume 2) – The Place Where I Belong…
What happened?
Noir was in a bad shape. She was weak and undernourished, however, that wasn’t what was stopping her from talking, and Luke needed her to talk. If she couldn’t clear him of doing something to the hero’s party then he would find himself in serious trouble. That was when she revealed her back, showing them the dark curse placed upon her, stopping her from explaining things. The Order of the Silver Wings were keen to find out what happened to the hero’s party so they asked Luke to help, knowing that if he had been betrayed as he said, it would be painful for him to help her. He agreed if only to clear his name. The curse tried to attack him as he broke it down, but it was no match for his new skills. Luke decomposed the curse while repairing his arm until it had been destroyed.
Free from the curse, Noir was able to tell them what happened after they abandoned Luke. Falcon, the hero pushed the party deeper into the dungeon, discovering a cavernous space. They found dragons and dwarves being forced to work by dark elves. Eventually, they found the dwarven settlement and agreed to help them break free. However, the dark elves were ready for them. Regardless, Falcon and his party made it all the way to the dark king, Gandalf. There, they were defeated by one of his underlings when Falcon’s sword broke. If only they had someone who could repair broken weapons… Luke was cleared, however, this brought a whole new problem for them to deal with.
Later Garnet came to see Luke and asked to speak to him in private. Since she was still pretending to be a man so that she could be in the Order of the Silver Wing it needed to be in private. When Luke repaired her body after the dragon attack, he inadvertently repaired a scar she had on her chest. She needed that scar back so he told her to hold the memory of it in her head so that he could try to put it back. As he tried, he saw the moment she got in. Her mother was stabbed with a sword while holding Garnet. She stopped the blade from killing Garnet and the scar was from the tip. Had Luke just seen her memories while he tried?
Soon after, Luke was summoned to see the King who had come personally to discuss the issue with the dark elves. The plan they had come up with would require the forest to be closer for several months which would cripple the town’s economy. Luke came up with a plan that involved destroying an existing fort someplace else, bringing the rubble here, and allowing him to repair it. That way the fort would be built in almost no time at all. He just needed enough mana to do it. Well, that’s not a problem for a king with a vast supply of mana crystals. Then, as Luke built the fort, they were attacked by someone who seemed more dragon than person. Luke fought back, using his attacker’s sword against him. That was when he learned that it was Falcon!

What did you think?
Wow! It’s been almost two years since I read the first volume. I had no idea it had been that long. Anyhow, this was an easy series to return to, even after so long. That said, it wasn’t as exciting as the first volume, but I also feel like this was more about setting things up for the future and giving Luke a reason to keep being an adventurer and a shop owner. His conversation with the King was nice and I liked how they both realised that they had met many years ago, back before he became a king. It was fairly sinister seeing how the hero’s party were all taken away one by one and not returned. That must have been terrifying for Noir and it seemed to hint that she was the one who didn’t want Luke to leave the party to begin with.
That said, the part where the dark lord was discussing how the hero lost to his underling was a little too on the nose. He basically spelt out that Falcon lost because he had been repairing his own sword in a less-than-ideal manner. Of course, Falcon then had to realise that he only lost because he abandoned Luke. Now, that’s the message we want to see, but this was too in your face with the way it was delivered. Another thing that I’ve noticed is that a lot of the male characters are fairly indistinguishable from one another. Other than the king, they could all be the same person, whereas, the same cannot be said for the girls. There is a wonderful variety of body shapes and looks. I think it’s clear who the artist prefers drawing. I’m not complaining either, just making an observation.
