Sabikui Bisco (Episode 8) – Fiendish Trap

Milo meets with Kurokawa who wants him to tell him how to activate the Rust Eater. Not because he wants to cure everyone, but because he wants to ensure he gets his cut. However, Milo hasn’t come to play nice!
Sabikui Bisco (Episode 8) – Fiendish Trap
What happened?
It turned out that Kurokawa broadcast a video for Milo and Bisco where he was torturing Pawoo. He wanted them to come to him and bring the secret to activate the Rust Eater. He also wanted Bisco’s head. That’s why Milo put Bisco to sleep. He didn’t want him to rush in and get hurt. Milo decided that he would do it and save everyone. He hadn’t counted on who Kurokawa was.
Milo attacked in a cloud of spores. He took out several of Kurokawa’s puppets and even landed several hits on Kurokawa. However, when it looked like Kurokawa was down, Milo relaxed and gave him an opening. He hit Milo with a dart from a crossbow, built into a prosthetic arm. The dart was laced with puppetshrooms.
Kurokawa revealed that he was a Mushroom Keeper although he had been ostracized because of his creepy concoctions. This was one of them. With it, he could control Milo’s actions. However, Milo refused to tell him how the Rust Eater works so Kurokawa was about to kill him. Bisco rushed ain’t the last second and saved Milo, destroying Kurokawa’s arm.
Unfortunately, he didn’t know about the puppetshrooms until Milo had fired two arrows, one into each of his legs. He was about to fire one into his brain, but then he told Kurokawa how to use the Rust Eaters. Kurokawa made him fire, but Bisco caught it in his teeth and flung it back, taking one of Kurokawa’s eyes. Then Jabi appeared, destroying Kurokawa’s control mechanism. They appeared to have won, but they still needed to escape.

What did you think?
So pretty much everything I suggested over the last seven episodes has been confirmed. The government makes its money from treating the Rust so a total cure would be bad for business. Kurokawa is a Mushroom Keeper and plans on controlling who can get the cure, if anyone. He also uses a mushroom called puppetshroom to control his minions, which explains why they wear those pink bunny heads.
I’ll admit that it was cool seeing Milo grow like that, but I’m also getting frustrated with the idea that the only way to save the Bisco was to drug him and go alone. Why not come up with a plan that uses both and makes it far less likely to go wrong. The two of them are clearly strong enough to have done it. I’m reminded of the earlier episode where Jabi tried to get close to Kurokawa rather than sniping him from distance with an arrow.
On top of that, if they had just waited, Jabi would have broken free, saved Pawoo and slipped away without being noticed. I’m really enjoying this series, but this all felt frustratingly coordinated. There was a lot of happenstance. It’s fine if the hero arrives at the last second, but for two heroes to do that in a matter of minutes seems forced. And to top it off, Kurokawa isn’t even dead. Why will nobody finish off these guys? They are clearly bad news for everyone.
