Sabikui Bisco (Episode 9) – I Love You
What happened?
Somehow, Bisco and Milo managed to get away from Kurokawa’s men and found somewhere safe to recover. Milo was in a worse condition, his eyes bandaged and his body battered. He kept asking Bisco if he was there. He was. Bisco held his hand while he fell asleep and then told him that this was farewell. He climbed on Actagawa and went in search of Kurokawa.
Pawoo was on her way back to Imihama when she spotted military vehicles headed in the other direction with Kurokawa’s men on board. They were headed to a secret facility where Kurokawa had the last working Tetsujin. The Rust wind wasn’t as effective as it once was and the amount of cure he had outweighed the number infected. He need to shift the balance so that he could continue to profit from the Rust.
Kurokawa gave Jabi a choice. He could join him and ensure that he had enough Mushroom Keeper blood to maintain the medicine levels or die. Unfortunately for Kurokawa one of his henchmen turned on him, driving a knife into his foot and throwing him off the walkway. It was Bisco. Bisco sent Jabi to destroy the launching mechanism while he went after Kurokawa.
The Rust had taken a deep hold in Bisco’s body and even though he quickly dispatched everything Kurokawa threw at him, his fingers cracked and then broke off. With Bisco unable to fire his bow, Kurokawa was sure he would win, but then Milo arrived and turned the fight in Bisco’s favour. Bisco dived forward pushing Kurokawa into the molten metal. Before the Rust could consume Bisco, he asked Milo to end his life for him…

What did you think?
I was not expecting this. Not at all. It was powerful and heartbreaking. I just hope that they aren’t about to pull a dream sequence on us. The reason I say that is that I don’t see how they managed to escape from Kurokawa’s men at the end of the last episode. Bisco couldn’t walk and Milo was face down in the snow. The episode started with a short dream sequence which could be foreshadowing for this purpose, although I won’t be impressed if it is the case.
Other than the death of the only character with his name in the title, this has been fairly predictable and with Kurokawa revealing that he is going to manufacture the Rust wind, I think I just filled my bingo card. That said, it has been incredibly enjoyable and I just hope that continues for the next three episodes.
I mentioned earlier in the series how I was seeing various references to Akira. Well, they just pulled the number one homage with the motorcycle slide. Even the facility Kurokawa took Jabi to had similarities to Akira. I hope there is an explanation for all this. It can’t be a coincidence. Even if it’s just that the author really loved Akira and wanted to pay it the respect it’s due. I’m diving straight into episode ten. Please don’t be a dream!
