Sabikui Bisco (Episode 3) – Tag Team
What happened?
As Pawoo attempts to defeat Bisco, he tries to tell her that the mushrooms don’t spread the rust which is what is commonly believed. The mushrooms actually eat the rust, however, it takes time and since people see them in abundance in heavily rusted areas, it’s a natural conclusion to make. Bisco is fed up with Mushroom Keepers getting the blame.
Milo has been able to patch up Jabi enough that he starts talking about his mission. They are searching for a special mushroom, Rust Eater that will be able to remove the rust from anything living or innate. Bisco is a strong Mushroom Keeper, but he doesn’t have the skills to synthesize an antidote from the mushroom.
Bisco defeats Pawoo, knocking her out with a poisonous mushroom. He takes her with him since she seemed really angry about Milo’s disappearance. Once back, he discovers the Jabi has recovered although he’s too weak to continue the mission. He believes that Milo would be the perfect companion since he has the skills Bisco needs. They leave Pawoo behind with some medicine and leave Imihama by the North Gate… Well, they go over the North Gate.

What did you think?
All right, we’re going places now. We’ve learnt that the mushrooms eat the rust and don’t actually spread it. The Rust Wind does that, but where does that come from? Thinking in a purely logical manner, it’s almost as if the air has become denser and is holding more moisture which is how the rust spreads and why we have sea creatures existing in the skies. That doesn’t explain where the rust comes from but it makes sense to me as to how this world is different.
Part of me is a little disappointed that Pawoo isn’t coming with them, but I think that opens up the possibility that she will become their pursuer, desperate to free Milo. Of course, she will come to understand the truth in time, which will obviously be a truth that the senior members of government knew about and have been using to maintain their grip on power. Sounds like a conspiracy theory, but that’s what my gut is telling me.
So, the first three episodes were all about setting the stage. Milo received his call to action and is jumping at it. Bisco, however, is less enthused that he has to cart Milo around. They are going to be best bros in no time at all. Finally, after the ED, we got to see a mountain where all the old military vehicles had been abandoned since the Rust began. Then, the mountain moved… It looked to me like an even bigger crab than Actagawa.
