Shachibato! President, It’s Time for Battle! (Episode 12) – Management Fad

Shachibato President it's time for battle Title

Minato appears to be out for the count, but without him can Kibou Company defeat the Maju afflicted with Psychopath Management? Even with Rivar, Valmi, and Subaru it’s going to be a tough fight!

What happened?

Subaru from Imperial Company arrived just in time to save Minato and Yutoria from the Psychopath Management Maju and then confirmed that Minato had indeed worked for Imperial Company and been fired for workplace violence. However, he never actually hit anyone. His boss broke his hand punching Minato and fired him for revenge. The rest of Kibou Company had caught up with them and heard all the details, which spurred them on to help Minato.

Makoto healed him and then they all prepared to fight, following Minato’s orders, which worked perfectly. But then the Psychopath Management Maju ordered the other Maju to return to the fight. Minato took care of them all with a rousing speech about workplace equality. With the battle won and the dungeon about to collapse they took what karikuri they could hold and ran. Luckily, they had enough to summon a goddess, but she was only a clerk level goddess and couldn’t answer their question. She was able to arrange a workplace vacation for them.

What did you think?

This episode was fine. It fit with the general vibe of the series, however, I can’t help but feel like this was a series of anticlimactic events. First, we had Minato’s workplace violence firing which turned out to be him being hit by his boss and then getting fired for nothing. From their reactions in the last episode, they made out as if it would be something more. Then, the fight with the Psychopath Management Maju came down to Minato giving a speech. Finally, we had the goddess who couldn’t do anything for them because she was only a clerk. I get it, very funny, but it failed to really give us much closure for a final episode, especially as I’d be surprised if this gets a second season.

What have you learnt?

I actually enjoyed this series in the end. It definitely improved as it went on and the characters grew on me. One thing that surprised me was the business elements thrown into the fantasy world. I think this could be a great idea when used to do the world-building, but when used on this level the joke got a little tired. It was interesting to see how they incorporated it into the story, but I think I would have taken a straightforward fantasy series over this style. Points for trying something new, but I don’t think it worked as well as they wanted.
