The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat (Episode 10) – First of Dates
What happened?
Maha welcomed Lugh and Tarte back from their trip to the uninhabited island with some good and bad news. The good news is that she’s been able to locate one of the divine relics, powerful weapons that only a hero could wield. She’s attempting to purchase it but has struggled as it’s currently in the possession of a warrior who may or may not be the hero.
Unfortunately, that’s not the bad news. The bad news is that Dia’s homeland is facing an uprising and is now in a fully-fledged civil war. Lugh rushes to Dia’s aid with the plan to bring her back to Tuatha Dé. However, she’s not prepared to run away from her duty. Instead, she decides that they should go on a date.
First, they go to an archery game and attempt to win a stuffed bear for Dia. Lugh is about to use his magic and his skills but Dia tells him that’s cheating, so he guides her attempts to win it. Eventually, she does win the bear and decides that they should get something to eat.
Lugh, however, can’t shake the feeling that there are a number of well-trained soldiers all around them, dressed in plain clothes. Dia tells him not to worry about it and takes him to the local hot spring, which is not segregated by gender. They have fun and even kiss. Then, once the date is done, Dia says farewell to Lugh and then orders her men to quit their charade…
Back in Tuatha Dé, Lugh is summoned to his father’s house by Tarte. There’s an injured man who Cian put to sleep with magic. He came to them with a mission, one that Cian wants Lugh to take on. Lugh agrees even before hearing the target. He may have wanted to wait a moment. The target is Dia!

What did you think?
Most of this episode was slow. There’s no hiding it, not a lot happened until the last few minutes. However, there were lots of little hints of things to come which was nice, but it really wasn’t a noteworthy episode until the twist. So, Lugh has to assassinate Dia! There are several things that come to mind here. Firstly, we saw Dia back at the beginning of episode one working with Lugh, Maha, and Tarte. That was a flash-forward so it seems unlikely that Dia will die. She may have to appear dead and take on an alias, but actual death seems unlikely.
The other thing that stood out to me was the latest appearance of the goddess. This time she recruited the world’s greatest teacher to teach the hero! Then, she went into a robotic drone about plans to save the world and deal with the hero’s rage. Could Dia be the teacher? Would that make Lugh the hero? I don’t know. There have been a number of things that make me think that Lugh is not the hero. For one, we saw him pick his skills and the hero has many more, or at least, that’s what we’ve been told!

What have you learnt?
So, what about Dia? Could she be the hero? Again, I don’t think so. She knows of Lugh’s mission to kill the hero so I feel like she would have done something about that earlier. The real question is who is this guy that requested the assassination of Dia and why? Why would Cian give the mission to Lugh when he knows that Lugh intended to marry her? For an episode that spent most of the time building the relationship between Lugh and Dia, it raised a lot of questions.
I think this was actually a great idea. It was a calm before the storm as I’m sure we’re about to see in the next two episodes. Of course, I also can’t see this series concluding in two episodes so we will have to wait and see if we get any more. Otherwise, I will be diving into the light novels. I’ve really enjoyed this season and need to know more. In that sense, I’d say this season has already been a success, especially as a lot of anime are essentially adverts for the source material.
