Are You Lost? (Episode 3) – Master of the Island

What happened?

Homare is close to finishing the shelter, however, Asuka is hungry and making quite the scene. When Homare heads into the jungle to look for vines, Asuka goes with her hoping to find something to eat. They find what might be a taro, but Homare has her doubts. They decide to test it by cutting it open and applying it to the skin. Asuka says to test it on her bum!

With the shelter complete, Shion decides that the next thing they need is a shower… Homare decides that she’ll do it as hygiene is linked to health. She makes one out of the plastic sheeting and vines, but it’s out in the open. It’s a deserted island, however, so Shion gives it a go and is pleasantly surprised. If only the others didn’t have to stand so close…

Mutsu and Homare head down to the rock pools to look for shellfish. Homare strips and gets straight in, Mutsu isn’t quite so comfortable. They manage to harvest a number of whelks and hermit crabs. Homare then makes a hot plate by placing a flat stone over a fire. The girls devour the whelks, so Homare brings out the hermit crabs!

What did you think?

I think we’re starting to see the general format of the series. Each episode will likely involve three scenes where Homare does something different with each of the other girls. She’s quite clearly the only reason they have survived this long and, maybe, in time they will learn from her and become accomplished survivors themselves. I think there’s still a lot of fun to be had with this series and I’m also enjoying the more educational aspects.
