Gleipnir (Volume 4) – What If It’s a Trap?
While Clair was agreeing to the secrecy pact, Shuichi had gone off with Chihiro to search for her wallet. They had encountered a monster and were crushed to death, however, they got back up and became something else!
Gleipnir (Volume 4) – What If It’s a Trap?
What happened?
Somehow, Shichi and Chihiro’s bodies and minds merged into one being, and they were not happy about being killed by Subaru. With this new form, they quickly took the fight to Subaru and soon had him on the ropes. If not for Elena intervening, they probably would have killed him. Clair came out of her meeting with Sayaka and was surprised to see that Shuichi wasn’t there. However, they soon worked out what had happened and with the help of Ikeuchi, they went off to search for him. Youta went with Clair as the group’s only real fighter. They soon found a clearing littered with blood and destruction. They also found Shuichi and Chihiro, both unconscious. Once they had recovered, the group were keen to see if they remembered anything. Shuichi didn’t, and Chihiro claimed not to, but Clair felt otherwise.
Chihiro did remember everything. She even looked into Shuichi’s memories and found Elena’s phone number. She called Elena and asked why she had been erased from his memory. She wanted to know what happened to them, but also to tell Elena that Shuich might not remember her, but could feel her absence in his heart. Soon after, the group headed out in search of coins. They came across a marker that appeared to indicate that another group had claimed the territory. They tried to go around, but then Clair realised it was a trap. They ran but were soon caught by a monster with frightening speed. It threw a severed head at them and then grabbed Sayaka’s boobs. That made Youta mad a gave him a chance to unleash his full power. However, that just made the other group all the more determined to catch them.
What did you think?
I loved the anime and remembered that this was when things really started to get good. It had been amazing before this point, but everything got turned up to eleven. Seeing Shuichi and Chihiro merge to become something else was awesome, especially given how powerful they became. Is that what’s destined for Shuichi and Clair when they get on the same wavelength? I think it only happened with Chihiro because they effectively died and the combined will to live united them. I have no doubt that Clair and Shuichi will achieve something far more terrifying at some point. I can’t wait for that moment.
Also, we saw more hints that Shuichi and Elena knew one another and that maybe she didn’t kill their parents. Maybe she did, but there’s plenty of doubt about it now. Either way, the idea that someone may have already gathered one hundred coins and already has the power to destroy the world was a great revelation. There’s so much going on that we’ve not yet been exposed to that it makes me desperate to keep reading. I think the anime probably covered six or seven volumes, so the fact that there are fourteen in total is quite exciting. I’ve long hoped that we would get a second season of the anime, but I also can’t wait any longer. Now, that the series has finished, it’s possible, but I’m not ready to put much hope into that venture. This series is weird and wonderful!
