The Fruit of Evolution: Before I Knew It, My Life Had It Made (Episode 7) – Lulune Appears!

What happened?

Now that Seiichi has two wives, it only makes sense that he needs a horse… Well, that’s what Guscle, the guild leader tells him and since Artoria and Saria both have quests, Seiichi is going on his own. Upon arriving at the stable, the owner asks if he is planning on entering the Royal Cup, a dangerous race around the city walls. Then, he shows him his horses. He has a dragon-horse, ideal for the race. There are some deer-horses that are more powerful but so painfully stupid they die at the drop of a hat.

The last option is a donkey that is wild and untamable. It starts to beat the owner and when Seiichi steps in, he learns a skill that allows him to understand all creatures. He stops the donkey from killing the owner and she accepts him as her master. On the way home, he buys Lulune, the donkey, food and then finds the artist he bought the painting from. She’s afraid to enter a painting competition so he tells her he will enter the Royal Cup and if he wins, she must enter the painting competition.

Lulune has her eyes on the fifth-place prize which is a giant fish. However, when the race starts and all the deer-horses die of fright, Seiichi discovers that Lulune forgot to eat breakfast. With nothing else to feed her, he gives her the fruit of evolution. Lulune loses control, defeats a hellhound and then wins the race. Afterwards, when Artoria and Saria come to the stable to congratulate them, they discover that Lulune has evolved into a beautiful redhead! What will Seiichi do?

What did you think?

This episode was hilarious, terrible, and thoroughly enjoyable. It makes no sense whatsoever, but I’m finding it quite freeing to be able to sit back and laugh at how bizarre a show is and still enjoy myself. Lulune evolving into a cute human girl was just about the most obvious thing yet and it was still fun to watch. Now, Artoria will get to find out what Saria went through when she confessed her love for Seiichi. I wonder if they’ll be married by the next episode too? It’s crazy, see you next week!
