The demon who was released by Edgar has flown to the city of Horizon and is planning on having some fun. Rein can’t sit back and watch that happen again, and of course, the girls are right behind him!

What happened?

They catch up with the demon before it can do too much damage, however, a couple of heavy blows from Kanade don’t do anything to it. In fact, the demon countered and sent Kanade flying. Rein, Sora, and Runa ran to heal her, while Tania attacked the demon with her fire breath. She holds back its attack but is soon overpowered. Rein runs to check on her, but she’s fine, just a little flustered by his concern. Sora and Runa cast some powerful magic, but once more it’s not enough. What can they do to stop the demon?

Meanwhile, Arios and the rest of the Hero’s party are holed up in their room. Aggath and Mina think that they should go help, however, Leane is on Arios’ side, and anyone who questions Arios might find themselves in serious trouble. They quickly relent and return to being quiet. Back on the streets, the demon has summoned a neverending army of minions. They’re not strong, but there is no end to them. Rein decides that the best bet to save the townsfolk is to teleport them away. Runa and Sore agree to help, but they’ll need Stella to convince the people to trust a couple of fairies.

Once everyone is safely away, Sore turns to look for Nina, but she’s vanished. She appears beside Rein, Kanade, and Tania, and says she wants to help. Which is lucky, because she may hold the key to defeating the demon. Nina, being a demi-god, can cast instant teleport which allows Rein to get close enough to the demon to try something crazy. He uses his beast-tamer powers to wrestle control of the demon’s minions away from it. He then orders them to attack, ripping the demon to shreds. They saved Horizon and all of the people!

What did you think?

At some point, I feel like Aggath and Mina will realise that they are on the wrong side. I don’t have the same hope for Leane though. She’s destined to join the Demon King with Arios, who has truly shown his colours by allowing the demon attack to play out. What a poor excuse for a hero! The fight with the demon was actually quite exciting. I particularly liked how everyone that Rein and the others had impacted along the way showed up to help them out. Even the two adventurers who Tania whooped on the bridge had realised that she was the boss!

And this was yet another hint at how things might play out in the future as Rein stole control of the demon minions. I wonder if Rein will add any more ultimate species to his party going forward and whether he will continue to get stronger. It would appear that he grows with each contract and I think that then makes him strong enough to make more. His potential growth is on an exponential curve, very similar to what they said about the Hero earlier in the season. This was a fitting conclusion to the season, however, there is one more episode which ties everything up and allows things to calm down.
