What happened?
During her time in Belstead, Anastasia not only took to mining, but she improved her cooking stats, allowing her to create food with buffs and other effects. However, she still didn’t quite feel ready to head to the Temple of Stellura. After analysing her stats, she decided to go hunting. She was keen to increase her necromancy stats and find the blueprint for Living Armour. So, with her two skeletons, Anastasia set out in search of foes. It was also a great chance for her to play around with the build of Unit One and Unit Two. She was able to change their colour, the material their bones were made of, and even change Unit Two into a wolf skeleton with an extra pair of arms…
After a while, they came across and Elite Ogre Guard. As its title might suggest, it was very strong and pushed them for a while. However, Anastasia managed to work on the groups tactics, allowing them to win, although it did cost her an arm. Luckily, Unit Two retrieved the arm which then turned into a big game of fetch before she reattached it. After increasing her stats and adjusting Unit One and Unit Two’s builds, they were ready to take on a bigger group. There were armoured skeletons and two phantom knights. Of course, Anastasia’s tactics were spot on this time, winning her the blueprint of Living Armour and allowing her to add a third unit to her party.
After that win, she headed back to Starting Town where she did some research at the library and then visited Meghan. After helping Meghan crafting potions for her grandson, Meghan explained how to work with alchemy. She even sold her a beginners set, which would be enough to get her started. Not to mention, the fact that she learned some tricks to craft above her level. After that, Anastasia met an old lady, struggling to walk and made Unit One carry her to the church so that she could be healed. There she met up with Luciana. After a brief chat, Luciana was stunned to learn that Anastasia was the Immortal Princess and urged her to hurry to the Nether as soon as possible!

Just like Goblin Slayer Side Story II: Dai Katana, it’s been almost an entire year since I last read a volume of this series. Ironically, where I criticised Dai Katana for being a bit slow, Free Life Fantasy Online: Immortal Princess excels at the slower pace of storytelling. I wonder if it comes down to expectations. It’s like when you have to sit through a school setting in a fantasy story. You’re there for a fantasy story, if you wanted a school setting, you’d read a story set in a school, and probably enjoy it far more since it’s what you are expecting. That’s definitely something to be mindful of when crafting stories.
Anyhow, this volume was hilarious. I love the interactions between Anastasia and the AI that seems to have stuck with her when it should have abandoned her after the beginners tutorial. It’s fun watching Anastasia bend the rules of the game with her decision to do things that are so out of the box, it’s unlikely the developers could have predicted it. It is definitely like BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense in that regard. And, unsurprisingly, both series are a lot of fun.
This volume ended with the revelation of the next event – an island survival scenario where the players are ejected from the event if they die two times. I laughed so hard that Anastasia seemed to be planning to kill everyone on the island twice to win. She said she wasn’t, but it was definitely at the back of her mind. Her new alchemy skills are going to come in incredibly handy, not to mention her cooking skills. And, she can probably summon her minions to guard them while they rest, now that their AI has been improved. Basically, she almost guaranteed to win and I can’t wait to see it.
