After the tournament, Anastasia returned to her daily grind. She was focused on developing her light magic and alchemy skills, although even she couldn’t have expected the skills that she earned as a result!

What happened?
Anastasia started back at the beach and was focused on hunting monsters since she had accepted a quest to do so. However, she was fairly disappointed by how weak they were and how whatever they dropped sank instantly to the bottom of the sea. She would need to come up with a better plan to make the most of this situation, but that would have to wait. Instead, Anastasia returned to Beginning Town and prepared to grind her alchemy skills. She was going to make one hundred and fifty-five potions in order to max it out. After doing so, she unlocked some interesting new skills.
By maxing her alchemy skills and her affinity for dark magic, she unlocked Secret Art of Necromancy, which allowed her to summon undead familiars and have them do her bidding. Anastasia liked the sound of that, so she headed out to the fields in order to hunt monsters. With her new dark arts skill, she could consume the souls and flesh of the monsters once she had killed them. However, she needed a lot of flesh to be able to summon anything. A quick trip to the catacombs allowed her to gain more monster blueprints and a lot more flesh. However, she still needed more help. The store owner did tell her to come back once she had increased her alchemy skills, so that’s what Anastasia did.
The store owner, Meghan agreed to help Anastasia if she became her pupil. Anastasia agreed and was given some interesting information about alchemy and taboos. She was also sent to the church to meet one of Meghan’s acquaintances where she was sent on another quest to clean the Temple of Stellura where the gate to the Nether was believed to be. However, to get there, Anastasia would need to pass through an undead forest that was said to be impossible to pass.
Well, that’s not enough to deter Anastasia so off she went. On the way, she summoned a skeleton and attempted to level it up. It went far better than she expected, so she reported it to the admins as a potential bug. They confirmed it was and thanked her for her help. They lowered her skeleton’s level and gave her a gift for helping. Once that was done, Anastasia headed back to the forest, levelling up Unit One as she went. Then, she reached the infamous forest and unsummoned Unit One, aware that it would be killed instantly. However, she hadn’t expected that she too would meet a gruesome death. Anastasia respawned at Beginning Town for the first time in ages.
What did you think?
Anastasia died! I did not see that coming and I was pleasantly surprised that they didn’t just plot armour her. Of course, she respawned at Beginning Town with a bunch of penalties for dying and she was still missing her left arm. Surprisingly, Rina was there and after the initial shock of seeing Anastasia with just one arm, she asked if she could have the other since it would grow back. Who knows what Rina was going to do with that? Anyhow, this is good because it’s the first real challenge that Anastasia has faced in a long time. That means she’ll learn from this and come back even stronger and now that she can summon undead servants, I bet she’s going to build a terrifying army. It’s just another step in Anastasia’s journey to becoming the game boss.
I also really enjoy the way Anastasia’s mind works. She’s obviously well educated and she uses that to deduce things that many might not expect. It’s a lot of fun watching her grind fairly pointless things and skills only for them to lead to something utterly terrifying like summoning undead familiars and absorbing their flesh with a dark portal. It’s going to be interesting when the game opens up its doors to many more players and they get to see her themselves. Who knows how strong and terrifying she’ll be by that point? I can’t wait for her undead army. This series continues to be a blast and given the lack of stakes, that’s quite surprising. There are definitely a lot of similarities with BOFURI.
