High School DxD (Episode 8) – I Pick a Fight!
Issei discovers that living with Asia might have its perks. Then, Rias appears in his room and tells him to have sex with her. What’s a guy supposed to do? If only there was a clear message of how to proceed!
High School DxD (Episode 8) – I Pick a Fight!
What happened?
Issei woke from a dream where he was marrying Rias just before everything turned to flames and a familiar voice spoke to him. It was clearly something to do with his boosted gear. He could feel it in his arm. But what was the part about marrying Rias all about? Strange! At school, Issei was trying to get his head together when his friends asked him to hook them up. If he did, they would invite him to the VIP room.
Not wanting to disappoint them, he gave them Milton’s number knowing that it would be too late by the time they found out. The VIP room turned out to be a locker in the girls’ changing room. They peeped through the opening and were shocked to see Koneko getting ready for gym class. They saw everything, but Koneko knew they were there and promptly punched through the locker door and then made a mess of Issei’s face. Asia healed him and seemed annoyed that he hadn’t done anything to her yet.
At home, Issei walked into the bathroom and found Asia washing. He apologised and turned to leave, but she stopped him, telling him that he could stay. She wanted to thank him for everything. Then, his mother walked in and that ended that. Back in his room, Rias appeared and began to undress. She told him to make love to her right here, right now. He got flustered unsure as to whether Rias was serious or not. Before he could pull it together, another devil appear. It was Grayfia, her brother’s queen. She reminded Rias of her commitments to Riser Phenex.
What did you think?
This episode was kind of fragmented. There were several smaller scenes that ultimately led us to the beginning of the final arc of the season. Some of those scenes were better than the others, with Rias appearing in Issei’s room as the clear winner. I find it odd that Asia has been forced to fight for Issei’s attention by trying to compete with Rias at her game. Obviously, Asia is a different type of girl and one that Issei has already stated is his type. By making her act this way, she’s losing the thing that made her an individual. Before long, she’ll just be another girl throwing herself at Issei…
I loved the moment that Koneko found Issei and his friends, although I can’t for the life of me work out why he’s still hanging with them and still doing things like hiding in girls’ lockers to peep. It’s not like he has access to Rias and she’s made it clear she doesn’t care if he sees her naked. I think this might be my fourth time watching this show and it’s starting to lose it’s shine.
Of course, they managed to introduce Riser at the perfect moment so that we can deflect all of our annoyances onto him instead of Issei. Riser really is a prize jerk who is begging to be knocked down. Either way, it’s not a bad show, but I don’t think it holds up to the memories of the first time I watched it. Anyhow, let’s hurry along to the rating game!
